So, .topx files now sort by database order in 10.1?

I thought that was true - but just tested it and TOPX files are still alphabetical...

I think .topx are the only ones not sorted by database order now.

We still need T4's ability to add those automagically generated numbers to the front end of the .topx chapters! Thanks, by the way, for all of this great work.

Hi Brent

I just downloaded T4 1.10 and I'm getting a realy weird error.

When I run it I get a tx4ole17 error that says "The designated text area is too small for the new format settings". When I accept that a huge error window appears. I'm sending you a screenshot attached.

Attached File  t4_110_error.png   24.04K   2 downloads

Did I break something in my system as usual, or is it a bug in the new version?

I'm running XP SP3, and all previous versions worked fine until now.

Thanks!

When does this happen? When you first start the program? I've not heard of any others having this issue. Any other error messages before this one?

I see it's not a problem with T4, but with my system. The same happens if I install any older version, that used to work fine. So it seems I have broken something, but what could it be? What does T4 rely on? NET Framework, maybe?

Thanks for your interest.

Carlos

Try this first - delete the file: "C:\ProgramData\Tools4eSword\ToolTipTool.ini"
Then restart the program.

It's fixed. It seems Windows needed a restart. I should have tried that before bothering you.

It's working fine now.

Thanks!

Hi Brent,
Reading this, I'm not certain as to what you are actually talking about, but if you are talking about new topics in a topic file, yes they are sorted alphabetically from A - Z. Now if you want them in like a Table of Contents order, then you need to put in place markers, such as numerical markers depending on the number of topics. So, if you have e.g., 25 topics , then you need to start with a 00 (Double Zero) as your first place marker, then the Title, then in the next topic, 01 and etc.

I don't know if that is helpful or not. I hope it is. :)

Stephen - I understand e-Sword TOPX files all too well! :-) That is why T3/T4 have the prefix and numbering scheme for TOPX files... Commentaries apparently are now database order, but not Topic files...

Yeah, T4 will automatically number Topic files from 0 to 9 -or- 00 to 99 -or- 000 to 999 -or-...

My preference is

01. Title here
02. Tittle here
03. Title here

I don't like the dash method:
01-Title here

How's that for picky? T4 lets us customize the numbering, though to accommodate me. :)
