Goal of this Documentation
The goal of this documentation is to explain every e-Sword feature for both the casual and advanced user. This documentation is the product of hundreds of hours of work.

If you have questions about a feature, we hope you can easily find the answers you are seeking by referring to the hyperlinked Table of Contents. If you’re viewing this document in a PDF browser, the Table of Contents is available in the Bookmarks window. The Table of Contents is invaluable for using this documentation.

This documentation uses informal, conversational English, keeping with our goal of real-world use by Christians wanting to learn more about e-Sword. The best way to accomplish our goal is to use conversational English.

Documentation Authors
A concept of this manual was first written in 2003 by Barrie Gordon and Johan Struwig.

Sarah Valente completely rewrote the manual in June 2011. Other than the organizational structure, the documentation Sarah produced bears little resemblance to the 2003 version.

Josh Bond rewrote and reorganized the manual, split in two revisions: July 2011 and November 2011.

Josh,
Thank you for making this tutorial available in pdf format. This is truly an answer to prayer as a result of many inquiries and complaints about an up to date documentation for e-Sword. You do not realize just how important this is to those who I given e-Sword to.

e-Sword once was a program that was so simple and easy to use one really didn't need a help file or even a tutorial manual. But since the event of the 9x series, many things have changed, and there have been a number of new additions made to the program. And so the how to questions have grown in e-Sword, and the program has become somewhat complex to use, and now there is an actual learning curve to it.

So again, a real great big thank you for this edition of the manual. God love you heaps for it.

Blessings,
Stephen (Php 1:21).
Yes, dittos to Stephen's post :) I just downloaded the PDF to be able to read on my laptop here and there and catch up with all that e-Sword can do. A valuable resource, thank you for your time and effort, it is a blessing, as it has already answered some of my questions :)
Josh,

I just wanted to say thanks - this PDF is great! I have a friend over in SE Asia that I sent a copy to and they loved it. :)

VERY simple to understand and the photo's are wonderful. This is a real service to the eSword community and Christ's Body.

Thanks Again, lg
Ps. 90.17
Josh,

I'm sorry if i'm mistaken, but the manual for download is still version 1.1. with 83 pages.
Good grief! Thanks for pointing that out. I don't know why the new upload didn't save properly. I deleted the old version and uploaded the new version.
Great ! Thanks, Got the updated manual v.9.1.1 now.

Looks really good. Many thanks to Sarah and you, Josh.
This version looks a lot better. Very professional, this is a plus for esword and for BibleSupport.com.... I am going to give a copy of this pdf with the free copies of esword i give away.
Great manual, but none of the Regex examples work (using 9.91). Granted, I'm new to the regex seaqrch syntax, but copying and pasting the examples given returns no results at all.

As it turns out, Regex doesn't work in extended search. One version at a time, if you please.
Correct, you have to use Regex examples in the Regex search...
Josh, ditto what Stephen's post. This is easily read and understood by even the computer illiterate like me...lol. Thank you so much.
