Anything that asserts the Quran is equal to the word of God is blasphemous and deserves no spreading.

#30218 James Burton Coffman commentary
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 05 March 2017 - 09:32 PM
Just wondering if the Coffman Commentaries have been released to e-Sword or are available?
no, they haven't and if you read up further on the list, you'll see that the copyright holders have refused to allow it for e-Sword.

archive.org might have all the info saved via the wayback machine.
#29128 Module suggestions?
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 09 October 2016 - 08:57 PM
My e-Sword collection is quite large. But if I were to select just a handful of free modules (and a few pay modules) to start off with, they would be:
Bibles:
KJV+TVM (great for getting deeper word studies)
Spoken English New Testament
ESV
Modern Literal Version
Commentaries:
Robertson's Word Pictures
Vincent's Word Studies
J.W. McGarvey Commentary Collection
Adam Clarke
Barnes
David Lipscomb Commentary Collection
Dictionaries:
All the James Hastings dictionaries
ISBE
Strongs/BDB/Thayer combo module
Paid Modules:
The NET Bible collection (the translation notes are worth the cost of the entire collection)
The Jim McGuiggan Commentary Collection (his commentaries are written in conversational tone and are filled with great information)
The Everlasting Gospel New Testament (translated by Hugo McCord)
#28876 New World Translation

If someone claims to be inspired, to be giving God's message, and they teach something false, then that means they are false prophets.
They've been proven as false prophets time and time again, and finally they stopped announcing dates for the coming of Christ because they lost nearly half their membership in the 70s over it.
They deny the deity of Christ, claim only 144,000 will be in heaven (though I heard one say they "found" another 144,000 would make it there), deny the reality of hell, and also teach a doctrine that amounts to Extreme Makeover: Earth Edition.
And for the record, your assertion about "all churches have begun accepting [homosexuality] for the sake of money and popularity" is a lie, slander, and leads one to the conclusion that you're not really interested in what the J.W.'s teach, claim, and are built on. Very few "churches" have accepted homosexuality--and even among those that have, most of their congregations reject it.
#28826 New World Translation

Abraham thought the blessings he was told of through the visiting Angel were going to be expressed through his servant Eliezer, then through Hagar, until he finally got it when he had it explained again that the blessings were coming through his wife, Sarah, having her reproductive abilities restored.
There are several more examples like this in the Bible involving very faithful servants, where a message or teaching was was received and misunderstood because of an enthusiasm to carry it out. The eventual result was what God purposed because of His understanding, patience, and grace towards their imperfect state. Basically, they didn't want to remain wrong, repented, and readjusted.
That's all well and good to say, except the Jehovah's Witnesses claim that their writings are inspired, that God speaks through the Watchtower publishing department. So if they printed a lie (which they did) and claimed it was inspired (which they did), then it isn't a "misunderstanding." It is a lie.

They were the ones who printed that book, "Millions Now Living will Never Die." That one can be found online, and it is out of copyright. That's a good one to bring up to them--most J.W.s have never heard of that book.

#28400 e-Sword 11 Released
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 27 July 2016 - 07:53 PM
from Rick:
I have already "fixed" the search issue in the next update as it was annoying me as well The cursor will continue to activate the view it is over in main portion of the app, but the search dialogs will begin with the cursor in the search terms field upon dialog display, and stay there until *you* change the focus to another control. Also, pressing the <ENTER> key after entering the search term(s) will initiate the search itself.

Module-making isn't really that difficult. It's just a matter of learning how it is supposed to be formatted, and then taking the time to do it.
#26767 "Yahweh" or "The LORD"?
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 09 January 2016 - 08:39 PM
The thing you quoted agrees with me, in that Jewish sources give multiple pronunciations of the name.
Jewish prayer books, holiday liturgical books, etc, are well recorded in which the Divine Name is used, pronounced, both with the traditional Masoretic pronunciations as well as with other pronunciations.

Use ToolTip NT, go to "modules" and then "Bibles" and then "read Bible modules." After it loads, you can save it as an rtf file. It will have all the formatting needed in it.
#26757 "Yahweh" or "The LORD"?
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 09 January 2016 - 11:37 AM
Since no one knows for certain how the Lord's divine name is pronounced (practically no one accepted the pronunciation "Yahweh" until the past 100 years, for example), it might be best to use "the LORD." When I preach, I, personally, go with "Jehovah" as is it the way it appears in most translations.
#26537 Is there a way to write your own hover comments?
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 03 December 2015 - 08:13 AM
I've done some experimenting with inserting screentips in MS Word, saving as an RTF file, and using ToolTip Tool to convert to a Bible file, but to no avail.
The RTF file in MS Word shows the link and the pop-up tooltip. Tooltip Tool shows the link as being active, and when I click on it right, I can see the formatting. But once it converts to bblx, there's no link at all.
#26406 Biblesupport 2.0 - Your Feedback
Posted by BaptizedBeliever on 10 November 2015 - 07:08 PM
I think if there was a way of doing it, you should do away with different listings for the same file with different formats, and make them all together in one location. That is, instead of having a MySword listing, an e-Sword listing, etc... there is just one, with the choice to download "MySword" or "E-Sword" or whatever.
I like the look of the front page, partially because that's just what I'm used to, and also because it gives me the new files and new forum posts in one location.
I could take or leave the "latest downloads" thing in the middle, though.
