I have a windows 10 system and I wanted to install e-sword on this computer.  The install seemed to complete correctly but when I click on the icon to start the program it never opens a window.  I am able to see the program in the task manager but it never opens up the program window.  Interestingly enough I have another computer which had windows 8 on it.  I installed e-sword at that time and it worked correctly.  Later I updated that computer to windows 10 and it still runs fine.

Has anyone else seen this problem?  Is there any thing I can do to get it to work?

Thanks

Jay

Kill it in task manager (be sure there aren't more than one running) and try it again.  Also shut down all programs including skype etc. and try it.  Uninstall and reinstall.

Home one of those works, if not someone might have other ideas soon.

It could be hidden under your taskbar. You can press the Windows key plus up arrow to get it full screen, other arrows will move the docking position.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.  Once I have started the program I can not kill it in the task manager.  I have tried unistalling and reinstalling several times without any success.  I have looked on the screen and it is not hidden under the task bar.  It is very strange.  Especially because it works on my other computer which is also running windows 10, except it was already installed when I upgraded to windows 10.

Until some better help happens along:  I've had trouble between esword and micosoft products, especially outlook.  This was on windows 7.

You might try rebooting and trying to start esword just as windows is starting up (when desktop is up and taskbar icons appear.

I have one program that this is the only way I can open it on windows ten.

Just for information many run esword run 10 with esword so it isn't 10 in particular.

I'm one of those who've been either or both blessed and/or fortunate not to have had any issues with running e-Sword on the following versions of Windows:

  • Windows XP
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10

And more over, I've really had no hassles with Windows as such per se from Windows 95. Windows 3.11, well that is a totally different story, but then e-Sword wasn't around then.

I never had Windows ME or Vista, 7, and 8.00, so I can't tell you what they were like.

With regard to the above three mentioned versions of Windows (XP, 8.1 and 10), installation and running problems didn't really exist. However, prior to e-Sword 9, the only issues I had with e-Sword were Topic and Study Note files becoming corrupt. Outside of that, I had no issues with installing and running e-Sword.

Where there were issues, these were mainly pebkac type issues, and as a result I've learned how to fix them.

Hi,

I figured out what the problem was.  For some reason my print spooler program was hung.  Once I disable that service and killed the splwow64.exe program e-sword popped up on my screen.  I do not currently have a printer attached to my computer so I have disabled my print spooler service.

Thanks for the help and the input.

Jay
