HI

Can study notes be made on a entire chapter instead of a single verse?

you can make your study notes in e-Sword then convert them to a commentary using Tool Tip Tool NT by reading your study notes then adding a commentary heading.

If you like making your own topics or Study notes or any other modules T4 or TNT I like to say goes hand to hand with e-Sword.

thanks again

Maybe in a future release study notes will apply to passages? It's been suggested before, as I forwarded someone else's suggestion on this to the author. Never know, never hurts to ask.

Thank you both for your responses. Until this is made possible in e-sword, I'll learn how to turn notes into my own commentary as suggested.

Hi
This is a process I would use to convert Study Notes to a Commentary.
  • Down load Tool Tip Tool NT (T4); Open T4
  • At the top a menu list - click on Modules, scroll down to Notes, and click on Read Notes Files; choose the notes files you want to convert, then click on it. (to open it)
  • put the courser at the top left hand and click on Modules - then Module Define Variables finally scroll down to CMTX Commentary File
  • type in your descriptions (what you want to say when you put your mouse over the tab name), abbreviation (TAB name) and comments about the module.
  • if the references have not been tool Tipped, click on Scripture - scroll down to tool tip.
  • Once you are satisfied with the way your module looks, click on Module - scroll down to Commentary and click save (name the module you want)
  • Oh yeah - click on file - save RTF file to what you want.

#define description=Test Study Notes
#define abbreviation=TSN
#define comments=My Personal Study Notes to a Commentary
#define version=1

÷Gen_1:1
in the beggining Joh_3:16

÷Gen_2:1
the second chapter Mat_5:3

÷Gen_3:1
the power of three's 1Jn_5:7-8

If you want Strongs in the commentary; in process 3 - instead of clicking on CMTX Commentary File, Click on DCTX Dictionary File.
It will add these:

#define strong=0 change the 0 to 1 - #define strong=1
#define nosort=0

Thanks (hope this will help you also check out Tool Tip Guide - http://www.biblesupp...revision-21712/

thanks again for your question

Hi Martha,
When I look at the Study Notes Editor, I see it like a wide margin Bible, and more in particular a simile of a loose leaf wide margin Bible. You Study Note editor acts as as a wide margin where you can scribble you notes on a particular verse or verses of Scripture, and your Topic Notes as loose leaf pages inserted behind a page where you have been reading and place your notes on themes and etc of the Bible.

I tend to think that you will be pleasantly surprised at the you can use e-Sword in your daily Bible reading, devotions and etc.

Blessings,
