HI,

I was wondering if someone knows how to import modules to the iPad version of E-Sword? It comes up on iTunes as a file sharing app so I figured there was a to do it. I tried a couple of times but have failed. Cany anyone help me with the process?

You actually have won half the battle, but the second half. Rick Meyers explains the process here: http://www.e-sword.net/ipad/faq.htm under making your own modules. He spells out five steps.

Essentially, before you do the iTunes file sharing, you have to convert the module to ios format with the converter you download from the official e-sword website in the Extras section; this is step three. For example, the converter will convert a .cmtx file into a .cmti file that you then can add to your e-sword iPad app. And you must have downloaded the e-sword module(s) to your computer in the first place. It really does work very well with modules downloaded from BibleSupport.com that I have tried.

There are a couple of threads regarding this process here: http://www.biblesupp...m/25-tutorials/

Hope this helps. Come back with your questions if need be, as there are others who are acquainted with this process that can help. :)

EDIT: one caveat that I encountered is trying to convert the premium NET Bible plus notes module. The iPad doesn't recognize it after I convert it and add it.

Jogirl,

Yes, I downloaded the converter but where do I find it? It wasn't on my desktop and I couldn't find it in e-sword anywhere.

Jogirl,

The converter installed into your e-sword folder in Program Files. Here is what I wrote after I first installed it and used it:

"A couple of tips. Note, I am using Windows 7.
1. After I installed the conversion utility, I found it in the E-sword directory (folder). Installing it did not create a shortcup on my desktop to run it. So, I made a shortcut on my desktop so that I could run it more easily.
2. After I converted my first commentary module successfully, I knew the file name with the extension *.cmti. However, I had to search my c: drive to find the file. It was here:
C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword."

Jogirl,

I've successfully installed a few modules on my iPad :)  I've noticed that several of the ones I wanted to convert were "locked" and it would't let me convert them. Is there a way to tell whether they are locked before I try to convert them? That way I don't waste a lot of time trying to sort through what I can and can't convert.

I have successfully converted all the modules, mostly commentary and a couple dictionary, I downloaded from BibleSupport to use in e-sword on my computer. Any modules that are official e-sword modules, i.e. downloaded from e-sword.net, are locked and cannot be converted.

Do you think this is what you are experiencing or is it something else?

Great news on your success, BTW!

That may have been it. I'll just keep a separate download folder for the modules on this site. That way I'll know which is whic. Thanks for the heads up :)

Good news! You don't have to convert Baker NT Commentary to use on your iPad. This is a premium module which you have already (it sounds like) paid the fee to use on your pc. Just open your e-sword app on your iPad and navigate to the Resources page (button in far right corner at bottom). Select commentaries and scroll down to find Baker's NT Commentary. Select Download at the top right and a box will popup for you to enter your product key which you received when you purchased the right to use the resource. Then, you can download it directly to your iPad after your email and key are validated.
