Is there a known issue with opening some TXT and RTF files?  I have a number of files that every other program will open (Text Pad, MS Word, Word Pad etc.) but Tool Tip will not.  It flashes the box that speaks to being in use.

After encountering problems with Bible modules displaying incorrectly in e-Sword 11.0.5, I have determined a couple of things.

The PC to Apple Module Conversion Utility found on the e-Sword web site under the Extras menu is useful for converting BBLX files to BBLI format.  This resolved my display problems in the Compare and Parallel Bible tabs for four Bible modules, two of which contained Greek text.

I was unable to create BBLI files directly from ToolTip Tool NT v2.77 that would work properly.  Using SQLite3 to look at the Details table showed that the RightToLeft column was missing from the table in the BBLI file, even though the Right2Left definition statement was provided at the head of the Bible's source code.  This does not appear to cause a problem for e-Sword 11 however, as I manually ADDed the RightToLeft column in the schema with SQLite3 and SET the Boolean value to zero, but still encountered the same display problem.

Using SQLite3 to select specific Bible verses from the BBLI file, I found that if the color of the verse text is all black, everything is fine.  Anywhere the color changes, the HTML tag for the font color can be incorrectly formatted, ending with a square bracket instead of a right angle bracket.  This causes all text that follows in that line to be ignored, up to the next occurrence of black text.  If the entire line is a different color, dark grey for example, that entire verse is not displayed.  Here is the report from SQLite3 against the *.bbli file I created from KJV verses ...

/*____________________________________

 | Select a specific Bible verse

*/

SELECT Book, Scripture FROM Bible

     WHERE Book = 40 AND (Chapter = 1 AND Verse = 1);

[DBS999I]  Book = 40

[DBS999I]  Scripture = <font color=#808080]The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.</font>

[DBS008I]  Total rows selected:  1

SELECT Book, Scripture FROM Bible

     WHERE Book = 40 AND (Chapter = 1 AND Verse = 2);

[DBS999I]  Book = 40

[DBS999I]  Scripture = Abraham <b>begat</b> Isaac; and Isaac <font color=#FF0000>begat</font> Jacob; and Jacob <i><font color=#C0C0C0]begat</font></i> Judas and his brethren;

[DBS008I]  Total rows selected:  1

In Mat 1:1, the entire verse is intended to be dark grey, but it does not display at all in e-Sword 11.  The HTML tab at the start of the verse terminates with ']' instead of '>'.

In Mat 1:2, the verse displays, with the first "begat" boldface, the second "begat" red, but the third "begat" that is to be italicized and light grey does not display because of the error in its HTML font tag terminator.

Based on this information, are you able to ascertain the cause?

Thanks.

So this is my first foray into ToolTip - an amazing piece of software!  I'm just trying to scratch the surface of its use.

I want to load a long list of verses into a verse list - i.e. create a verse list module without the one-at-a-time e-sword interface.

I validated the verses using the Scripture > Validate References until there were no BAD ones, and I'm still getting this error:

Report the following:

Ooooops!  Found the problem reference.  It was this one: 1 Corinthians 5:1-10:33

Now the verse list is created properly!  Sorry to bother you! :)

Brent,

I have been using Tooltip for almost a decade.  But now it will NOT keep my 10 pt font size and then recently {curly braces} disappear in the final .bblx file.

{Mar 15:6-19 & Mat 27:15-30 & Joh 18:39-19:16 Fri., April 7, 30AD.}  (blue & 10 pt)

to

Mar 15:6-19 & Mat 27:15-30 & Joh 18:39-19:16 Fri., April 7, 30AD.  (still blue but 12 pt.)

how do I fix the .rtf input file for the compiler?

Brent Hildebrand has passed away.
And you can easy solve the problem with your computer knowledge.
Because the { } are always blue and 12 points.

Make a backup of your rtf.
"Replace all" the { and } by $ and £ in the rtf
Then use ToolTip Tool.
Download SQLiteDatabaseBrowser
https://sqlitebrowser.org/
click file menu Open Database and "all files (*)"
Search for your MLV2021.bblx module and click on "Browse Data"
click file menu export database to SQL file and select Bible and Details and save
then replace .sql by .txt
open the .txt
"Replace all" $ by { (with the rtf blue colour and 12 point code)
"Replace all" £ by } (with the rtf blue colour and 12 point code)
save and import it and remove the .db

I wonder why you not use the Apple convertor to create a bbli.

https://e-sword.net/extras.html
The bbli based on HTM is more compatible with e-Sword 12 and can be used for the Apple editions.

The first thing that I do after downloading MLV is to convert it to a bbli and delete the bblx.

I don't use the bblx edition of MLV.

Sorry to hear about Brent.
Sorry but life got in the way on my end.

I did similar and exported to CSV just to see the embedded coding which I thought was supposed to be HTML now and not this proprietary coding.

Our biggest concern is 10 pt. font on all the superscript & blue content but I don't know the codes...

Mat. 1:1
40,1,1,"{\cf2 {NOTES: If your plans are to read the entire N.T., start in Mark. Please read the \u8216?Definitions\u8217? Section and other non-bible sections. In this translation Old Testament names will be in their Old Testament form.}}\line

Currently Blue but needs to be 10 pt. font size.

Then on our for* [* is our universal footnoting as you know]

for{\super *}

What would be the coding for making the * 10pt size and stay superscript?

Thanks so much for your help. Butch

This was the HTM code for Mat 1:1 for your previous edition.
<blu>{NOTES: If your plans are to read the entire N.T., start in Mark. You should read the 'Definitions' Section and other non-bible sections. In this translation Old Testament names will be in their Old Testament form.}</blu><br /><i>The</i> book of lineage of Jesus Christ, <i>the</i> son of David, <i>the</i> son of Abraham:

I save it with UTF-8 for the 'Definitions' punctuation.

Why don't you try first to convert it with the Apple converter and then edit it if you don't like the result?
https://e-sword.net/extras.html

e-Sword understand:
<red>Red</red>
<blu>Blue</blu>
superscript

<blu>Blue superscript</blu>

/line is <br />
linebreak

In HTM is superscript  automatic a smaller font so why 10 point?
https://www.w3school...gs/tag_font.asp
<p style="font-size:10px">This works until a </p>  (or <p>) (paragraph tag).

But the problem is that is too small for many that have bad eyes.

It is better that the user can choice the font side in Options "Font Settings" instead of limiting the font side to 12 and 10 point.

And the HTM code for tooltip in your Bible is <ref>Mat 1:1</ref> but this works only with the bbli Bibles and newer e-Sword editions. So not with the RTF based bblx Bibles.
