I have had Esword running in the past but for some reason it will not open anymore. I have tried running as an administrator. Un-isnstalled and reinstalled, and received an email from Rick Meyers with this:

Delete the following key from the Windows Registry, *then* start e-Sword:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\e-Sword

And it still will not open. I have looked into the antivirus program and Im not having much luck with that either. It runs on my laptop with Win 10, but on my PC with Win 7 when I click on the icon to open nothing happens. I have checked the permissions also and they are set to "allow".

Does someone have a solution?

Thank  you

Here is an update. I have been trying to run this on Win 7 64 bit. I have another drive on my computer that is Win 7 32 bit and the program downloaded and runs fine. In fact, it even allows me to download bibles, commentaries, etc. Esword on my laptop with Win 10 runs, but the downloads are not highlighted, they are shown as black with only a few downloads available.

More fuel for the fire.

Have you upgraded to E-Sword 11.06?? The modules listed in the downloads section are now for Esword 11 use as they are in the format for that version of E-Sword

If e-Sword runs on your laptop, but not on your Desktop PC, should tell you heaps. The problem isn't with e-Sword; the problem is with your desktop machine or your hardrives. Also you could look at the possibility of a corrupt cluster (where e-Sword is located) or partition on your HDD.

When booting your computer, start Win 7 in Command (safe) mode, and run Check Disk (can't remember the actual filename (chkdsk.exe I think)) to test, check and repair your partitions and/or clusters.

Another basic problem could be file fragmentation. Run Defrag to fix any fragmentations.

Esword does not run properly on the laptop using Win 10 because none of the downloads in the download section of the program will highlight so I can download them.

If I'm going to compare the laptop to anything it would be the second drive on the desktop that is Win 7 32-bit. Esword runs properly on that drive and all downloads are available. I downloaded the ESV bible this morning and it loaded into the program on restart. It is the drive on the desktop that is Win 7 64-bit that does not work.

I ran CHKDSK as recommended from the command prompt in safe mode and no issues or bad files were found, on the Win 7 64-bit drive that the program won't open up on.

And the version is 11.06.

Revo Uninstaller found left over files and they were deleted. With a fresh install, installing and running as administrator  and changing permissions it still won't open.

OK. So, how much RAM have you got, and how many resources (of total Gigabytes) are you trying to get e-Sword to load?

Your CPU, what is it ... Single, Dual, or Quad core? And what is the age of your machine? All of these factors come into it.

As a matter of interest, are you experiencing the same issues with other programs?

Do you have a printer installed on this Operating system? What I would check is that you can print from other programs to your printer. In the past there was an issue of e-Sword failing to start if no printer was available.

Windows 7 Home Premium Intel I5 2500K CPU @ 3.30 GHZ 8GB Ram 64-bit

Printer works fine, can print and scan.

Esword 10.4.0 works fine

Deleted anti virus re installed newest version of esword and still won't run.

Esword is the only  program I have issues with and will not run.
