#43866 Hover pop-out notes in Bibles

Posted by Tj Higgins on 05 January 2023 - 12:20 PM

From your other thread:

http://www.biblesupp...-bible-modules/

You included the following:

Each note will require the following two small bits of html code to include with the note next <RF> and <Rf>. The first piece of html code will be place at the start of the of note text and the second html code will be place at the end of the note.

............

Is it still necessary? I noticed it was not included in this thread.

Yes the html code is still  required to make the pop-up notes function correctly, all of the pop-up notes for the WEB bible modules are working correctly

#43862 Hover pop-out notes in Bibles

Posted by Tj Higgins on 03 January 2023 - 05:33 PM

The WEB bible module provided on this Bible Support site at the URL below includes hover pop-up notes.  The WEB bible module linked below is not a licensed, premium, or paid module, and could be very helpful for someone looking for this type of challenge.  There is also a WEB bible module that can be downloaded through the e-Sword application itself, and you need to keep it straight which WEB bible module that you are actually using.

http://www.biblesupp...n-edition-2022/

P.S.  At last check, the notes table and the bible table are not in alignment with each other starting around Romans 14:26 through the end of Revelation.

The pop up notes are now working correctly

#43841 MyBible 5.5 for Android released

Posted by Tj Higgins on 30 December 2022 - 02:32 PM

The latest version of MyBible for Android was released on November 27 and there have been a number of improvements, changes and fixes:

Improvements

  1. Additional module registries are supported so that active MyBible users can
distribute their own MyBible modules not included (or not yet included)
in the official MyBible module registry.

  2. User-desired abbreviations of Bible books are supported. In the Bible book selection window:
    • explore the new "Desired Abbreviations" tooltip
    • use the menu item of the same name
  3. Bookmark related improvements:
    • The concept of preceding (as opposed to closing) comments of bookmarks has been introduced
in the context of their display in the Bible text.

      • The behavior of already existing bookmarks has not changed: their comments are shown
in the Bible text after the last verse marked with a bookmark.
      • Bookmark categories now have an additional property:
"Bookmarks in this category are created with comments marked as preceding the
        bookmarked text."
      • For each bookmark, you can specify whether its comment is an anterior
or an ending comment; the corresponding mark, "Comments precede marked text",
can be shown using the menu in the bookmark edit window.
If this mark is set for a bookmark, the comments of this bookmark
will be shown in the Bible text before the first verse marked with this bookmark
, thus forming a kind of subtitle in the Bible text.
      • The new bookmark property "Comments precede marked text"
is also used when exporting bookmarks to the comments module.
    • Restored previously deleted (as it seemed unnecessary then) sorting of bookmarks
      in ascending order of timestamps.
    • Improved application behavior when editing a bookmark when a new category is needed:
the added category is now automatically assigned to the edited bookmark.
  4. MyBible now responds to a touch in the file manager (i.e. an attempt to perform an associated action)
    of some known file types:

    • bookmark set files
    • bible modules
    • dictionary modules
    • comment modules
    • cross reference modules
    • daily reading modules
    • reading plan modules
    • subtitle modules
    • MyBible themes
    • profiles (settings) MyBible
    • desired module abbreviations

This makes it easier to handle MyBible files received from someone and downloaded to your mobile device.
When you activate such a file, MyBible prompts you to import its contents.

  5. Copying and sending poems.
    • The Copy and Share buttons in the Bible window title bar now support long touch
and provide additional named sets of verse copy and share settings.
The "Selected Verses" tooltip has been expanded accordingly.
    • The "Copy auxiliary information" setting from the "Copying and sending verses" settings group
now also copies information on chapter headings, Strong numbers, morphology - if it is shown in the Bible text.
  6. Book selection improvements:
    • Added menu item "Apocrypha if present" in the book selection window:
checked by default, it allows you to disable the display of Apocrypha books, even if they
are present in the current Bible module.
    • See above for desired abbreviations.
  7. TTS related improvements:
    • In the TTS of the text of the Bible, the sound of the title of the book has been added - before the first chapter.
    • Supported reaction to a long touch of the TTS button of the text of the Bible, which allows you to limit the
number of chapters to listen to.
    • The maximum pause between verses has been increased from 10 seconds to 200 seconds.
    • Module set "Google-TTS-ru" is now loaded automatically by the "Welcome" window
on a device with Russian localization.
  8. Added the ability to copy to clipboard
and share selected items in the Notes and Subheadings windows. Touching the number of selected items only copies
references to the corresponding Bible passages.
  9. On Android 10 and newer, scrollbar color control
on vertically scrollable areas has been added.
  10. In the Screen group of the Display settings category, the setting
"Always show a scroll bar in auxiliary windows when the content does not fit" has been added
    (it is disabled by default).
  11. In the "Individual Book Selection" window, the icon buttons for selecting all or none of the books have
been replaced with labeled buttons for greater clarity of their purpose.
  12. The list of available action modes is no longer shortened when the corresponding items are
not shown in the Bible window (which could cause the user to not understand where they went).
Instead, such items in the list are now highlighted as inactive, and if selected, they
show an explanation on how to correct the situation.
  13. in the text input dialogs, the "Paste" button has been added, replacing all editable content
    with text from the clipboard.

Simplifications

  1. Forgotten by the developer and not obviously located setting
"When the display of Strong's numbers is enabled (menu item 'Show') replace numbers with
brief information from the current Strong's lexicon (if it contains such information)" has been removed.
This is done because the settings in the "Display for Strong number" group are sufficient.
  2. When TTS is launched, a full re-initialization of the TTS engine is now performed every time,
without relying on the TTS initialization done earlier in the same MyBible session -
thanks to this, MyBible now immediately picks up a change in the default
TTS engine system settings, without noticeably slowing down the start of TTS.

Fixes

  1. Changed the way the screen is kept on so that it works on all
versions of Android without special permissions and can no longer leave the system screen
timeout setting changed in case MyBible stops unexpectedly.
  2. Corrections for recognizing references to the Bible in notes, etc.:
    • The start of a newline is now definitive: characters before and after a line break
can no longer be interpreted as one complete reference. This prevents
weird link highlighting around line breaks.
  3. Fixed space allocation for buttons in the Bible window title
to fit the widest position in the current module.
  4. Fixed a visual defect when entering a note in a very low Bible window -
the control buttons could be forced out of the input text down beyond the border of the callout.
  5. Fixed problem with non-working buttons for abbreviations of specific dictionaries
in the "Entries in dictionaries" window.
  6. In the "Using Strong's Number" window, a defect was fixed with the inability to select another Bible
module if the Bible module that was selected there before was deleted.
  7. When using a set of modules to select a module in the Bible window, the three-dot item
at the end of the module selection drop-down list is no longer shown if the list already contains
    all available modules.
  8. Prevented a possible incorrect state of the "Night Mode" setting in the "Screen" submenu
when changing the state of the "Follow system dark mode" setting.
  9. Memorize functionality corrections:
    • When a whole chapter is selected for memorization,
only the chapter number is indicated as the position, without specifying the range "first verse - last verse".
    • Fixed unexpected right alignment (instead of center alignment) in some
Memorize functionality windows (this was inadvertently broken in MyBible 5.4.1).
  10. The "Current Title" configurable button action has been adjusted to
show the nearest subtitles from the previous chapter if there are no subtitles in the current chapter.
  11. Serbian UI localization has been updated (which hasn't been updated
in the last few releases due to unavailability of the Serbian language assistant) -
however, only updated for the previous version, not for 5.5.0.
  12.

#43837 MySword 13.5 released

Posted by Tj Higgins on 29 December 2022 - 09:00 PM

MySword 13.5 was released on December 22 here are the changes and fixes in this version:

What's new in Version 13.5
  1. New Other Look and Feel preference: Tap word selects verse.
  2. Enabled the Preferences menu item in Search so that Show navigator on select and Split view panes can be changed instead of going first to Bible search.
  3. Long tap word dictionary lookup (Deluxe) improvement: faster by taking advantage of multiple CPU cores.
Bugs Fixed in Version 13.5
  1. When a verse number in a popup Bible range or chapter is tapped, the current verse number in the Verse selector may change.
  2. When Select is tapped on a Strong popup the Strong and morphology if any are remembered at the top. However, navigating the dictionary view continues to remember the old entry which is now not matched.
  3. Editor Find and Replace's Replace and All require Find first (Up or Down arrow) to work.
  4. The Popup Bible module could be different when opened via Popup Notes or Journal in Split view.

Just wanted to post a little update on this project so that every will know it still in the works.

As of this week I have completed all of the entries from volumes 1 and 2 of the twelve volume print set of this work. Again this is a slow project for the time being I am trying to find a way to speed this up however as I did not expect this project to take so long.

#43755 e-Sword Module Creation Guidelines

Posted by Tj Higgins on 05 December 2022 - 08:23 PM

Greetings,

I purchased a PDF copy of Truth Commentaries. I have been learning how to Make a commentary module and so far after a few attempts, I am getting the hang of it by just using a chapter at a time. I am wondering if there is a way to be able to paste the whole chapter or even a whole book into the tooltip and have it formatted quickly?  Or do I need to insert (รท) myself before every verse on my own as I have been doing?

If you can convert the PDF to word document format it will make thing easiter. Yes you have to insert a mark for each item in the commentary

#43651 Zip Files

Posted by Tj Higgins on 26 October 2022 - 03:50 PM

How or can I download these great works in a zip file or other format?

Thank you.

You need a zip file utility such as WInzip or 7zip to open and extract the modules that are pack inside, once you extract the modules you can copy and paste them in your e-Sword directory

#43624 Jewish Encyclopedia update 10/19/22

Posted by Tj Higgins on 21 October 2022 - 11:12 AM

As its only a few, Im curious if re-saving  or resizing the images in a image editor will resample them and make them workable.

if its easier, please feel free to send me some and ill see what i can do. If you have an image program (like paint) perhaps that would work also.

I am still trying to figure this issue out and will let you know

#43620 Jewish Encyclopedia update 10/19/22

Posted by Tj Higgins on 20 October 2022 - 03:38 PM

Please forgive me if I'm repetitive. Its just wanting to make sure that i spoke clearly for you to evaluate.

We appreciate you making an esword version which is what we want and of great value. None of us want an logos module.

The question was if the data for the esword module would work better coming from the logos module than the je.com web page. I don't know which is a better source and anything is appreciated. If jps has access to this maybe he can export it to a file for you to make an esword module.

However to decide to make this module we are all very grateful.

If only some images are a problem I'm wondering if there is a specific problem with those images. It could be invalid file type, invalid characters in file name or corrupt images. If converting the problem images would solve the problem, i would be glad to attempt saving them to your specifications. If it is more convenient to skip the problem images that is fine also.

We all appreciate this humongous task you are doing and it will be an amazing resource

I would use Logos if I could but I do not have Logos I only have e-Sword and a few Android bible Apps right now.

I can create the module from the Jewish Encyclopedia website it will just take time to complete but i do work quickly so things will move smoothly

As for the image issue it seems to only be a few images that do not work so I do not know what the issue actually is. All of the images are jpeg files and tooltip has image settings that do not work with certain images from time to time.

I have broken the module down into small sections as I go so fixing things will be easy, it is just a matter of figuring out what to fix

#43618 Jewish Encyclopedia update 10/19/22

Posted by Tj Higgins on 20 October 2022 - 11:12 AM

Simpler to use the Logos version, in Logos. It has text Hebrew, not images. Topic links work properly. Good formatting. All the images will work.....

The request that started this was for an e-Sword version which I have no problem making and if I have to skip some images I will
