I'm sorry, but I really hate the bright yellow color of the search highlight. I've de-selected "Highlight Search Results" in the "Options" menu, but my bible searches still have that bright yellow background on them. I've tried resetting the global e-Sword settings, but to no avail. Is it possible to either 1) turn off the search highlight color (thus having no color at all), or 2) change the color?

hi

sorry but it looks as if you can not change the colour of the search highlight.

does someone else have a better answer?  please say so, because it seems nice to change to a different colour.

thanks

As a matter of interest, why would one want to change the color of the search highlight?

A note on highlight colors.

There is are basic reasons why yellow is used to highlight text, especially in search results.

  1. The text is easier seen through yellow than any other primary color
  2. Yellow is the most common color seen by those who are partially color blind

If one googles "what colors hurt the eyes," one will see some interesting results.

From Color Matters

"Yellow is the most visible color of the spectrum.

The human eye processes yellow first. This explains why it is used for cautionary signs and emergency rescue vehicles.

Peripheral vision is 2.5 times higher for yellow than for red.

Yellow has a high light reflectance value and therefore it acts as a secondary light source."

So, perhaps for this reason that yellow is predominantly used.

Remember, a great deal of research has gone into what colors are most effective for acheiving the desired result.

I hope this will give you some insight as to the rhyme and reason regarding color choices and their reasons for using them.

Blessings,

This may be the same on your system (or not) but it is worth a look.

I have both BBLI & BBLX files on my system. When I do a search the BBLI are blue and the BBLX are yellow hylite.
