On installing the topx, why not install the e-Sword Module Installer? Once installed, you can double click any module to install it automatically. Download the module installer from any file listing.

Josh, I have been trying to get back on since this afternoon. My computer went into safety mode. And had to be rebooted. I thought I was going to have to take it into a computer shop! Well, I finally get it going, and come on to the site, and all of my prior correspondence is gone! Any idea of what might have happened?!
And my personal profile stuff that I put on the site is gone too!

I think I am starting to learn this! Forgive me brethren for not being so computer savvy. But, by the end of figuring this out, I sure will be!! So, I have now just downloaded J..R. Miller's Vol. 5. And I can see it in my folder that says"downloads", but I cannot get it to open. What do i do here?

The module installed will put topx files in the program 86 e-sword file XP, Vista and 7 like topx better in the documents e-sword folder for some reason. At least that is what it does on my windows 7 lap top.
Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

Hi Richard,
Now, that was a very good question to ask, and one that actually really deserves a more comprehensive answer.

The Add-Ons e-Sword uses are generally referred to as Modules and/or Resources. In a loose way of putting it a module and a resource are regarded as pretty much the same thing. However, perhaps unknown to most a Module and a Resource are two different things (entities).

To actually define the meanings as to what they actually are, a resource is a particular type of material used for a study of one sort or another. A dictionary is a resource, a commentary is another type of resource. Mostly resources are used as study aids, such as dictionaries and commentaries and etc.

However a module is something entirely different. A module relates more to a field of study of which certain resources are needed to help in that field of study. So, for example, if one is doing a study in Apologetics, then the resources needed for that field of study are what composes that module. One might do a module on Hermeneutics, then in order for that field of study to be able to be done, then one may require certain resources to do the work.

So, to cut it all down to its bare bones, all a module is, are certain resources that are required for it.

OK, now if I were to do a study in Hermeneutics, the kind of resources I probably would need for that module are:
  • Stuff that deals with the topic on Hermeneutics
  • Stuff that deals with the sub-topic of Exegesis
  • Stuff that deals with methodology of Biblical Interpretation
  • Stuff on original Biblical Languages
  • Plus the poem on Latin (see at the end of this post).
And so the list can go on.

Sorry about the technical geeky answer, but I hope this has given you a far better understanding to what an actual module is in relation to Bible study and etc. :D

Blessings,

Latin is a dead language

As dead as dead it can be

It killed the ancient Romans

And now its killing me.

Instead of posting the whole url, just post the ID which is the letters and numbers at the end of the url. Example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY8B3loKnus
Then enter zY8B3loKnus into the box on your profile page.

Also, I have found the quickverse books in the STEP. They are all coded so to speak for quickverse. Can I go about renaming them? Or will that damage the file?

My recommendation is to drop the STEP files into their own directory. e-Sword will recognize the filenames that QuickVerse uses. (More precisely, the files names that are in the volume.ini file of the directory that the STEP files are in.)

Navigation to STEP resources is a little more difficult than for the "native" e-Sword resources.
