I've never used the pens for capacitive screens, are they quite precise? I've seen them and they appear to have a splodgy gel bag thing for a stylus and I wondered if they would be suited for handwriting. Also, while handwriting, is it a case of not allowing any part of your hand to touch the screen while writing otherwise your hand will be confused for some screen interaction?

If you could ease my mind on these points I will go and get an Android tablet tomorrow... I've just never had the chance to use a pen on them, I'm hoping on a 'go do it' answer. :-)

It would seem to me that the Android e-Sword app is designed for the small screen of the phone and not for the larger screen of a tablet. I do hope someone will port this magnificent program to run on 10" android devices.

Just too clear up confusion, there is no android e sword app. There is an android app called MySword. MySword has no association with e sword, except that it was inspired by pocket e sword.

MySword runs great on a 10" android device. However, there is a Deluxe version of MySword that is desgined for tablets that runs even better. This is not free. You can have up to 6 windows open in the Deluxe version. On my 7" tablets, I normally have 4 windows open.

Hi Pete,
Now that I have me a Galaxy smartphone, the next step is to go ether of the following:
  • Galaxy Note or
  • Galaxy SIII Smartphone (drool)
  • Galaxy Tablet
  • or combination of the SIII and the Galaxy Tablet. (really drooling here).
As for the difference between Samsung's Galaxy smartphones all there seems to be are:
  • Screen size
  • Later/newer versions of Android
  • More apps than the previous version.
Beyond that, what is seen under the hood, there doesn't seem to be all that much of a difference. For me is just because its a newer gizmo, and hey, I like playing with bigger toys than what was before.

MySword has no association with e sword, except that it was inspired by pocket e sword.

Thanks Pete for bringing this up.

To everyone else. Do not confuse e-Sword with MySword or Pocket e-Sword with MySword, as they really are totally two different applications. The resource files will not run on either of these programs, e.g MySword modules will not run on e-Sword and vice versa. So you will have to be very careful about this.

Check the version of Android that they run. If you purchased it new this year, it should have either Jelly Bean, or Ice Cream Sandwich with a promise to upgrade to Jelly Bean. Anything else (Frodo, Gingerbread) has a strong risk of not being supported when the apps you use are updated.

+1, which is why I am repeating it in red.

The other set of programs that frequently get confused is e-Sword, and the various front ends from The Sword Project. (Eloquence, BibleTime, Xiphos, Pocket Sword, And Bible, etc.)
