I've received maybe half a dozen emails from people with suggestions for the e-Sword User's Guide. One caught my eye. I had no idea e-Sword would do this. Maybe I am the only one who didn't know...

You can use e-Sword to convert HTML, DOC, or TXT to e-Sword's RTF format.

Use a Topics file you don't care about (can't be an official e-Sword resource) or go to File/New to make a new one.

View that topics file in the Editors window/Topic Notes Tab just like you normally would.

Then click File/Import. Choose an HTML (or other file) to import. e-Sword will generally import it flawlessly.

You can use this same functionality to make a commentary using Study Notes. Import your HTML (or other file) for various verses in your Study Notes. Then convert the study notes database to a commentary. You would have to tweak the verses field. For example, you can't select more than one verse for a study note commentary, but after you convert your study notes database to a commentary database, you can edit this directly to make a comment apply to more than one verse. In some situations, this might be easier than converting HTML to RTF and trying to retain the formatting.

Hi You can also make copies from C:My Documents - e-Sword Folder - right click on Topic - select copy - paste (the copy in the same folder) which you will see Copy of topic as a file name. this creates a new Topic. All you have to do is rename the file.

You can do this to all the files in My Documents e-Sword folder.

thanks

Did Rick remove the "export to PDF option"?

(I'm changing Linux distros, and am not installing e-Sword, or other tools, until I'm sure the CRM I want to use works with the distro. The last three I tried didn't.)

The export is a little tedious to use. You have to do a separate export for each Topic, Study Note, and Journal. But yes, you can export as a PDF, HTML, DOC, RTF and even TXT.

The Logos "End User License Agreement" makes the user agree not to copy and paste text from Logos or reverse engineer their resources. So you have that contractual prohibition. But to answer your question specifically, I don't know of any way to convert Logos resources to any other format. Their resources are in a format called "Libronix"--that's about all I know.

Hi Josh,
Well there is a way... but its a very, very long way of doing it, and it can be quite tedious. Ummm, Its called copy and paste.

Now that was very naughty of me suggesting something like that :D
