So, Paul's letters to Greek-speaking people across the Roman Empire were written in the spoken language of the Hebrews? Luke's letters to a high-ranking Roman official (Luke and Acts) were written in the spoken language of the Hebrews, even though Luke was a Gentile? John wrote to the seven churches of Asia in a language that very few of them spoke, let alone read? From a common-sense perspective, this makes zero sense.

I am open to the idea that Matthew may have written his gospel in Aramaic as well as Greek. But since there is no proof outside of an uninspired man from a hundred years later making the statement, it is not something I would argue for.

Greek was the spoken and written language of the Roman Empire at that time (Latin was the "governmental language" until much later when it spread to the people). It would make sense that the Scriptures, being distributed far and wide, would be written in the language that ALL the recipients understood. God is not the author of confusion.

1) At least half of that evidence is along the lines of "this is what we want to be true, and our saying it is true makes it true";

2) That site almost completely ignores the issues that Aramaic Primacy raises and is unable to answer;

Outside of the Nestorian Church and the Church of the East, Aramaic Primacy had no advocates until the middle of the twentieth century. Virtually all of the advocates of Aramaic Primacy since then have been from outside academia.

As I suggested to both you and Gary, create e-Sword resources that demonstrate why Aramaic primacy should be taken seriously. Include in those resources that you two create the following:

  • Aramaic lexicons;
  • Aramaic grammars;
  • Aramaic codices;
  • The non-existent Aramaic critical text;
jonathon

Hi Will, and Gary,

I quote this (the suggestion part) because To make these modules seems very interesting.
Personally I would like to see as much material turned into e-Sword. - When it come to making Modules for e-Sword I am a fanatic.

Very interesting to have these resources. (anything that supports the Word of God) But Please Merismos it.

thanks

Jonathan, please explain what you mean by "critical text".
Oh and you might want to put your actions where you words are and create an e-Sword module that explains why you think that the Greek Text were the source of the Aramaic copies thereof. Be sure and include Greek lexicons, grammars, codices, and include that all critical "critical Greek text" that existed before Constatine hijacked the Faith and created a church/circus that brought about the need to create a critical text of the Greek text. The Aramaic Texts never got all messed-up in need of critical analyisis as the Greek text have.
