I've got the correct module, WordStudy now, through our church.

I've put it in the correct folder and its STILL not working on my version 12.2.0, running Win 11 Pro.
My old laptop is Win 10 and e-Sword version 11.1.0, with no problems.

So I want to put my younger laptop, back to the 11.1.0 version and see if it will recognise the WordStudy module. 

 

How do I do this?

wordstudy and Wuest's volumes cannot work on e-Sword because there is no extension that e-Sword supports. (it is now without extension)

wordstudy is a dictionary or lexicon and it should be wordstudy.dicx OR wordstudy.dici OR wordstudy.lexi

 

Based on your previous topic here that is locked is it a premium dictionary module for e-Sword that is last updated in 2018.

So change the file name wordstudy to wordstudy.dicx

HOW DO I INSTALL THE E-SWORD PREMIUM MODULE I PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED?
All you need to install your e-Sword module is to enter your Email address and "Product Key" you received when you purchased the module. If you do not have that information, just click on the "Recover Product Key" button on the dialog that prompts for this information.
In the Download option in e-Sword, under the “dictionaries” option, in English, you will find the “Premium” option to Word Study. This is for the Complete OT and NT Word Study Dictionary published by AMG International, Inc., as loaded by Rick Meyers 2018-03-28. Click on the “Info” tag to read about this book. Click on the “Title” column to see how to enter the “email address” that you originally used to purchase access for your personal use of this “product key” module from eStudySource. There is an option provided to recover the details from your precious personal email address and to retrieve the appropriate product key that was assigned to your personal email access to this “locked” product.

I expect that the file type will probably be “.lexx”. But you need to load your previous details for this to be unlocked for your personal use as it will be password locked, and accessible only by the purchaser.

 

If you notice an entry in the "Download" option, with the entry colored RED, then in the FAQ option Rick Meyers, the developer of e-Sword for the PC, instructs us as follows:

HOW COME I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ANY RESOURCES, THEY ARE ALL COLORED RED IN THE DOWNLOADER!

Update to e-Sword 13 as these new resources are not compatible with the older versions of e-Sword.

It is an .exe extension, not a without extension as it shows an installer icon. User has this option to see the extension of known files turned off in the properties.

The extension choices were .dctx, but the latest download of this resource is .lexx (I just downloaded it to check)

If you don’t see file name extensions when you view files in File Explorer. In the search box on the taskbar, type file explorer, and in the search results, select File Explorer. In File Explorer under View, in the Show/hide group, select the File name extensions check box.

 

IMPORTANT: Read the option very carefully. Windows 10 - select the option to SHOW file name extensions. Windows 11 - unselect the option to "HIDE file name extensions". 

"Select" means that you put the cursor over that item, and tap the left mouse button, or the equivalent button on the laptop mousepad. This will display a check box containing a "tick" mark. This is to indicate that this option has been selected and is to be activated. Often when you get a new PC the option to VIEW or SHOW the filename extensions has not been pre-selected, and the user needs to activate this option, in order to make the PC more "user-friendly". Alternatively, the option to HIDE file name extensions may have been pre-selected and needs to be un-selected.

I find it essential when downloading files, to be able to differentiate the different file types. This is because the different options may spell the filename with the same spelling, except for the file type extension. If the file type has the file extension ".exe", then this is a self-processing file, which you need to OPEN or RUN for it to proceed further. Often the older Bible Support modules were installed with a Wizard "installer" to put the modules in the correct directory folder. When this occurs, the date of the files will have the date when they were last modified by the person who created the "installation" file.

You can access information about Microsoft by entering ".support.microsoft" in the URL address box, then search for what you want help to do.

If you copied the module to into e-Sword 13 then you need to close and the reopen e-Sword 13 in order for the program to find the module

To download and install e-Sword on your PC, please follow these simple steps:

• Click the top button that says "e-Sword Install".
• When your browser's Save dialog appears, choose "Save" to start the download.
• Open/Run the file (for example by opening the folder where you saved it and double-clicking the installation file). There is no need for uninstalling older versions before updating. The installation program guides you through the rest of the process. It is recommended to use the default settings for installation.

NOTE: If your computer security is blocking the download of the file with the file name extension "exe", when your browser's Save dialog appears, chose "Save as" and add the following at the end of the filename ".docx", so that the filename will appear as
e-sword_1300_setup.exe.docx then, after the file has successfully downloaded, browse to the filename, and right click to select the option to view this filename with the Properties option. You will notice that the file has been blocked, with a warning: Security This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer. There is an open check box next to the word Unblock on the right side of this warning security message. Move the pointer over the Unblock check box, and select this by tapping the left mouse button, or the equivalent left button on the laptop mouse pad. A tick will appear in the check box, and the Apply button option at the bottom of the Properties window will become available. Select the Apply and the OK button options.
Return to view the filename, and select the option to rename the file. Remove the added ".docx" to bring the filename extension back to ".exe". When the Rename warning appears, If you change a filename extension, the file might become unstable. Are you sure you want to change it? There are two options, Yes, and No. Select the Yes option. Now you can Open/Run the self-installing file.
