#16566 Thank You for these Modules

Posted by LarryG on 12 April 2013 - 11:24 PM

I hope this is the right part of the forum....

I just want to say thanks for these two modules:

"THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. MARK; A Devotional Commentary" by,  Rev. J. D. Jones, M.A., B.D.  [TOPX Format]
http://www.biblesupp...tary-4-volumes/

and -

Spurgeon, Charles - The Interpreter: Spurgeon's Devotional Bible  [DEVX format]
http://www.biblesupp...votional-bible/

I am using both of these modules right now, on a daily basis.  It's been a long while since Charles Spurgeon has blessed me so much - but this devotional is an excellent short walkthrough of God's word.

Furthermore, reading Rev. Jones commentary - the simplicity and depth makes me almost wish that it were a devotional itself.  That is how I am using this module.  Pastor Jones tender heart and simple words are a blessing - very refreshing.

Thanks Josh for making and posting these (and other) modules and everyone else who made these modules available.  I've shared them with other saints in other countries - they also are being blessed. :)  It's hard to keep quiet about a good thing, eh?

#16565 Puritan Commentaries

Posted by LarryG on 12 April 2013 - 09:07 PM

My $.02 worth:

Many of the Puritan author's writings are available via the Internet Archive in their entirety, many in sets of their complete works (such as the complete works of Adams, Binning, Bridge, Clarkson, Manton, Jay, Flavel, Newton, etc.).

The problem is making them available in a proofread word doc. format.  However, this task is something that anyone can do.  Once the proofreading of the text is done, the construction of the eSword module becomes possible.

If you would like - or know someone who would like to proofread texts, then the making of these modules could proceed apace.  There are no special skills involved, only time and patience.  Here is a partial list of the collections I can offer you - many have already been uploaded and rest in the RAW resource section of this forum.

#16471 Wuest word studies

Posted by LarryG on 03 April 2013 - 05:14 PM

Hello all I found the site through looking for the Wuest word studies. And I am now struggling to find the link for it. So I would appreciate a little help with the link. Fantastic site BTW.

You are blessed in Him.

HERE are two links that give some explanation about what is going on with the modules you're asking about.  In short, Wuest is copyrighted material.

#16408 e-Sword v8.x

Posted by LarryG on 27 March 2013 - 06:55 AM

That is something I have noticed quite frequently, A resource on the (now closed) e-sword-users site will say that the module is available here, but I have not been able to find them.  Right now I am in the middle of trying to find the BDB dictionary for version 8.

Friend, here is the BDB.exe for eSword v8.06.

#15379 Font in John Owen's Exposition of the Epistle of Hebrews

Posted by LarryG on 21 January 2013 - 05:31 PM

This is mostly for the search engine visitors who enter the site through this thread, looking for John Owens Hebrews Exposition.

This module has been remade, not from the original module upload, but by returning to the original PDF files and extracting the text again.

The original module on the left and the better formatted version on the right, see the screenshot below. This is the value of properly formatted module versus a "pump and dump" version. It's the time invested that makes the difference.

Thanks Josh - I really appreciate your commitment and the modules you make/correct.  Blessings. lg

#15209 Get rid of the childish demerit stuff

Posted by LarryG on 08 January 2013 - 03:18 PM

I've had many tears and sorrows
I've had questions for tomorrow
There've been times I didn't know right from wrong
But in every situation
God gave blessed consolation
That my trials only come to make me strong

I've been a lot of places
And I've seen so many faces
But there've been times I've felt so all alone
But in that lonely hour
In that precious, lonely hour
Jesus let me know I was His own

Through it all
Through it all
I've learned to trust in Jesus
I've learned to trust in God
Through it all
Through it all
I've learned to depend upon His Word

#14978 What Modules do you want for e-Sword

Posted by LarryG on 29 December 2012 - 01:17 AM

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

I lovingly beseech you to spend more time studying God's Word than all other studying put together. I didn't say to not read anything else. I implore you to read God's Word more often than everything else. Let the Word of God teach you about doctrine. When it is not clear to you just keep reading. Pray and ask God for guidance....

With love in Christ,
RJayB

Thank you brother for these words of wisdom. Seriously, I have contemplated this very thing for a long time. The heart of man does not change throughout history. When many of us are thrown into prison or re-education camps the only thing we will have with us is the Christ we know experientually, not theoretically. If we cannot trust Christ to teach us His Word from His Word and the Spirit, then how will we be able to trust Him for our next breath when times are hard? When I am carried into eternity to live with Christ throughout the ages all my notebooks and study manuels are going to be left behind - only the heavenly Love resting in my heart will last: Experiential Love. Blessings. lg

#14801 R.C. Trench's "Synonyms of the New Testament" **UPDATED**

LarryG,

You are correct in saying that there is some legitimate concerns due to the experiences you have mentioned.

Thanks for your affirmation. lg

#14799 R.C. Trench's "Synonyms of the New Testament" **UPDATED**

Posted by LarryG on 20 December 2012 - 09:27 PM

"Editing and correcting" imply that there were booboos in the previous module. By "editing and correcting" them, I have edited and corrected them by comparing them to a Google Books .pdf file. Many extraneous marks ("<>") have been edited out. Strong's colors have been changed from black to green, signifying that they are "mouseoverable." Incorrect scripture references have also been edited (corrected). The module has been tooltipped. Paragraph spacing has been increased to better legibility.

Not sure what the second question you ask has to do with this topic - unless you're implying I've made edits to the theological content of this material in order to actually change the author's intentions in the module. I have not. All edits are simply corrections.

Thanks Dave, the module looks a LOT better. I especially like the formatting and tooltipping. Good job; Well Done!

As for 'BigPaws' questions; I think they're legitamite. From some online sites I have consistantly encountered texts where the sites owners make a claim that their text came from such & such an author. When I double check the sites text with the Google book or Internet Archive book, the site owner has dramatically changed the text.

#14533 e-Sword on Startup

Posted by LarryG on 04 December 2012 - 06:10 AM

....When my internet wifi is up esword runs slow and at times when changing from one esword window to the other is seems to freeze, or goes into a waiting mode -- very iritating.  When I disconnect from the internet esword speeds up with no delays.  It seems esword is constantly checking the internet?  How do I stop this kind of activity?

Myself, I am also running Win7 64 Home Premium and have had problems with eSword v10.1 wanting to contact an outside Internet connection. The way that I solved this was after I had set up the eSword branded modules the way that I wanted, I restricted (blocked) the eSword program to the Internet with my Firewall software (Comodo Firewall). Then I was free to add any modules I wanted from BibleSupport - eSword no longer had access to the Internet.

I've also had problems with the software 'freezing up' while shifting from function-to-function - very irritating!  I have had partial success by limiting the number of modules I have activated (turned on). I also did a complete re-install and that helped for about a month, but the problem returned. Others do not seem to have these problems, so I don't know what I am doing different.  Perhaps if I added more RAM the 'freezing' delay problem would stop, but I would think 4GB RAM should be sufficient.   I use a cable modem for Internet connection.

Apparently it is by design. I thought it was a bug also.

Yes, I have had the same problem.

#13845 e-Sword on iPad

Dear Bro,

The power of GOD can breakthrough anything and makes highways in the midst of the sea. Those of you who are expecting to have all the BIBLE support modules on eSword HD, please file a request with GOD. HE will take care of it. It may be Apple or some other company, anything has to bend before GOD.

Dear Father,

You know the strong desire for your WORD each one of us has in our hearts. today we ask you to open up a door for all us to have these precious modules made by your children on eSword HD application that rick has made for iPad. In JESUS Name i pray. Amen.

david

Ah, the voice of SANITY !  (A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. - Prov 25:11)

Thank you Brother David, thank you and Bless you!  You are 100% correct!

#13831 Profile Update

Posted by LarryG on 05 November 2012 - 05:50 PM

I have had the same problem trying to change my picture.  Here is a work-around that I discovered.

I brought up the picture on my image viewer, and then took a screen shot of that image and saved it as a .jpg.  For some reason the screen shot worked fine, while the stored image did not.  The problem did not seem to be size of either image - so I don't have a clue what was going on, just that  the screen shot worked.   :)
