I just updated to version 3.2 on the iPad. I have thousands of words highlighted in the KJV Bible and all of them are now gone. How do I get them back?

Same problem here. Suspect this is a bug - according to developer note, highlighting was reengineered in HD 3.2. I submitted a problem report.  If/when I hear back, I'll post response.

Your highlight, or in other words, markups, is a generated user file created by e-Sword. Now, I know this is the case for the PC edition of e-Sword, and I assume this would also be the case for e-Sword HD and LT. The default file name (for e-Sword PC) is, markup.ovlx, and I also assume that would be similar for e-Sword HD except for a difference in the extension.

The way you open a markup file in e-Sword HD would be totally different to that of the PC version, but I think that is what you may need to do.

I don't know if this is really helpful as I don't have an iPad, and therefore I don't use e-Sword HD, but I do hope I've got it right, and have helped you somewhat.

Blessings,

As promised, the response from Rick. Note this new method appears to only support highlighting the entire verse (I was fond of highlighting specific words or partial verses) - nevertheless highlighting is still there.  Unfortunately it does appear as though the previous highlights are lost.
Response from e-sword support:

Martin,

Highlighting for Bibles is now  verse specific (long-press on the verse reference link to do so).  However you also get those highlights traveling across all translations now, and you can get a listing of all the verses you have highlighted.  Neither of those two features were possible with the old style of highlighting.

Unfortunately the old highlight style could not cohabitate with the new features.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

In His service,

Rick Meyers

We'll, that is unfortunate. I guess I will switch to Olive Tree as that is an important feature for me.

Is there any way to restore an old version?

Both my mother-in-law and my wife have upgraded (my wife's got upgraded by me trying to figure out how to get my mother-in-law's down graded) and now both have lost their highlights and ability to highlight.

I attempted to backup my wife's iPad to my macbook but in the process some how when I deleted it from my wife's iPad and then resync'd against my macbook it upgraded to 3.2.  My not an Apple geek so I may have well done something wrong. Needless to say my wife was not please...

Does any one have a copy of the ipa file for the version prior to 3.2?

Can't this be made available?

Why can only the 3.2 version be available?

I've installed the 3.0.1 iPhone version but the UI is difficult to use and a little lacking compared to the iPad version.

I tried restoring a previous (iPad) backup, but that still brought the latest app version down.  The only other thing left to try is a complete wipe & factory reset, then a restore.  I don't think that will work, but it may be worth a try.

Note: a complete device wipe (fact restore) & restore to a backup before the upgrade works.  You can get the previous version back w/ all saved highlights, etc.  just be certain you don't inadvertently update the app (e.g "update all" in App Store updates)
