HI Bob,
Just be careful to ensure that the bbl files you wish to convert are 3rd party files. If the files are e-Sword official files eSword9Converter will ask you for a password, and considering that you won't know the password you'll be unable to convert it.

This tool is pretty simple and very straight forward to use, and it converts just about all the e-Sword file types. The help file for the program has a list of all the files it can convert. So, you'll be able to convert more than just your old Bible files.

If the files are commercial (For example from e-study source), generally you can redownload them in the latest format for free on thier site.
Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

You guys were a big help.
I had draft copy files of the World English Bible and with your help was able to put them into my e-sword.
Thanks much.

One more question if I may.

There is a new computer coming out - it's called the Chromebook - I think it uses a Linux system. Can I get e-sword for that?

From the eSword author's website:

http://www.e-sword.net/links/crossover.html

There are several ways of using eSword with Linux, some free and some involving commercial programs to make it work. I used a freeware program called Wine to make eSword work when I ran Linux. It does involve some extra work, but it's worth it.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
