Hi all,

Josh Bond is making the Lange's Commentary. As I was looking at the cmt found here http://www.biblesupp...s-cmt-of-ot-nt/ I found a bible within the cmt.

Here is a sample of Mat 1:18-20:

18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When1 as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away [by divorce] privily. 20But while he thought on these things, behold, the [an] angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

1. I copied the bible verses to office word;

2. Replace - Find what: ([0-9]{1,2}) or {1,3} - for Ps 119 with has 3 digits for verses. Use Wildcards, Font color: Auto. Replace with: ^p1:\1 . (there is a space after 1) You will have to change 1: to what chapter you are working on (^p2:\1 or ^p3:\1 etc)

The new sample: (now with single verses)

1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When1 as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away [by divorce] privily.

1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the [an] angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Now if anybody would like to make this Lange's bible into a module that is what you can do.

Any questions Please A.S.K.

thanks

The bible passages quoted in each chapter are just KJV and the revised version, as far as I know. Its not Lange's own translation. The only original content there is his footnotes, which will be in the cmtx.

The KJV is indeed the text of the Bible, however, there are frequent occurrences of bracketed material that explain or give alternate wordings (or sometimes say "omit" this word or that phrase). It is a project that is sitting on my desktop to finish. The problem comes in that the verse numbers are not always in the right place (sometimes appearing in the middle of the verse), and so it is not as easy as I would like it to be. I have to move each verse number to its proper location, checking every single verse, which can be quite tedious.

If the verse numbers were all in the right place, then I could have this module whipped out by Saturday (could be sooner, but the NFL draft is this week...Go COLTS!). LOL. Still working on it slowly but surely... But when there are much easier modules to make, I tend to gravitate towards them instead.

Here's what I'm talking about. Here's Galatians 1:1-5

1 Paul, an apostle, (not [apostle not]1 of men, neither by [through, διά] man, but by [through] Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) 2[omit parenthesis] And all the brethren which [who] are with me, unto the churches 3of Galatia: [.] Grace be to you, and peace, from God the Father, and from our2 Lord Jesus Christ, 4Who gave himself for3 our sins, that he might deliver us from 5this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Notice where the verse numbers are showing up. he has verse 2 ending with the word "churches" and verse 3 starting with "of Galatia."

I have no problem doing the Wildcard thing, but this module will be unusable with the verse numbers being like they are.

Hi Truth,

Check this sample:Attached File  Lange NT Bible og.RTF   8.7MB   2 downloads

Now say that the numbers that are in blue has an under line 1 and the rest of the text is in black (auto) this is what I did:

Find what: ([0-9]{1,2})
Wild cards, No underline, Font color: Auto

Replace with: ^p\1 (there is a space after the 1)

Please let me know what you think
you might have to proof read it - some numbers may have returned within the same verse. But it works good.

thanks

Most of his comments about the KJV passages he quotes are in the footnotes...

Josh,

I know you've got all the text in front of you, but here is the reason why I think the module would be helpful as a Bible file (and which is why I am doing parts of it here and there):

John 1:1 In the beginning was [in existence] the [personal, substantial] Word [the Logos], and the Word [the Logos] was with God [the Deity, the Godhead], and the Word [the Logos] was God [Himself].
John 1:2 The same was [existed] in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by [through] him; and without [except through] him was not any thing made [Gr,. egeneto] that was [hath been] made [Gr., gegonen].
John 1:4 In him was [is] life [pure life]; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 And the light shineth in [the] darkness; and the darkness comprehended [apprehended; Lange: suppressed] it not.
John 1:6 There was [became, arose] a man sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:7 The same came for a [omit a] witness [testimony, Gr., marturian], to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
John 1:8 He was not that [the] Light, but was sent [came, Lange: he was] to bear witness of that [the] Light.
John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world [The true Light which lighteth (lighteneth, Shineeth upon) every man, was coming into the world].
John 1:10 He [It] was in the world, and the world was made by him [it], and the world knew him not [Lange: did not recognize it in him].
John 1:11 He came unto his own [his own possessions or inheritance, Gr., idia], and his own [his own people, Gr., idioi] received him not.

There are enough notations in the Bible text itself to make this worthwhile, I think.

But that's just my opinion.

Right, sounds good. Didn't realize he had so much bracketed text.

Of course, in some places, the brackets are far fewer... but in those places, the work goes a lot quicker for me. :)
