Hi All,
I have been trying to use e-Sword to prepare the scripture list for my Pastors sermons, which are then copied to a Windows Note Pad file. This file is then taken to church on a thumb drive and copied as a song into the Easy Worship software.

The first couple of times it seemed to work OK, but then I started having issues once the scriptures were in Easy Worship. The first few verses would display correctly, but then the next ones would not. They would simply not format and come up on the slide for those verses.

Several time I had to settle with using e-Sword to get scriptures from non KJV translations, and use the built-in scriptures in Easy Worship (mostly just KJV). (Not an ideal situation, as I do not like the way the scriptures were formatted, nor did I like the way I had to build the list.)

My first thought was that maybe there was a song length limit. Nope, I had found actual songs already in the software's database which were longer.

Then I realized that part of the time I would left click the verse and use the “Paste into Topic Notes” option while at other times I would hi-light the verse(s) and then paste into my notes. This showed some promise but the problem came back.

Then I saw a few scriptures that ended with punctuation marks other than a period. I deleted the marks, and this helped in one or two cases but still no solution.

Finally yesterday, while making this weeks list, I saw the 'Copy Verses...' option. I had assumed this was to simply copy to the clipboard, but I decided to try it anyway. What I found was a very nice dialog allowing me to do several things including changing the way the scripture reference appears, copy a range of verses, and... would you look at that, an option to turn off or on, character formatting.

I remembered the “special” characters I had seen in the raw database a few times and guessed that this had to be the culprit. I messed with that option a little bit and created a scripture list. I then copied the list from e-Swords editor and pasted that into Notepad. From there I ran a trial with Easy Worship and, VIOLA! Praise God, it worked. (And this was a very long list this week!)

So, if any one else has had similar issues, just maybe this will also help you out.

Also, if there is/was a simpler way to solve this, please clue me in.

In Christ,
Roy

The same sort of thing happens when you are copying Greek or Hebrew text, it can get very tricky to get them copy properly depending on the font being used (and there is no font seems to be even close to universal among modules).

I have had pretty good luck, however, using the macros for MS Word, so it is likely that the Hot Keys utility e-Sword will work well also. For some reason I have never been able to get them to work for me, but many people have reported outstanding results, it would save you few steps since you could paste directly into note pad without the intermediary steps needed to swap between Bible to Topic Notes to clipboard to Notepad.

You wouldn't even need to have e-sword running, the hotkey utility allows you to select the translation (from any you have installed), do a search (the pop up is the same window e-sword displays for searches) or directly select the verses (even spanning chapters) and paste the results directly to the word processor.

Here is the URL for the Hotkey utility. Try it, it should make the job easier. http://www.biblesupp...e-sword-hotkey/

Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)
