Sounds like you have it figured out. If that's all there is to it, then you can whip this out tonight, right? :)

Hi Josh,
No, not really. That said, one thing I know is that all databases basically behave the same whether they are relational or Object Oriented.

Now, going the other way from e-Sword to TheWord is easy. Super easy. Because TheWord displays chapter topics based on data in the database, rather than using an alphabetical sort "system".

So, on that, like I said, "I realize that there is no one simple solution to this," but if we take MS Office files to OO files conversion (includes all file formats) with extremely little loss of format (basically nearly all the format is retained), then one has to seriously consider the possibility of being able to convert The Word formatted files to e-Sword format with extremely little format loss. So, comes the million dollar question, How do we do this programmably in an application? Its not a question of can this be done, because it can be done, we just need to figure out how it can be done from The Word to e-Sword. :D

Don't just love it?!

Blessings,

Sure it's possible to convert TheWord to e-Sword with no formatting losses. The problem will be topic ordering (and front matter distinction) that will need some final tweaking by the end user, but given the Topic Editor in e-Sword, that's not the end of the world. Any programmer out there who is bored should go for it! :)

I am currently converting about 300 Word modules for E-sword. Need to tool-tip and format a bunch, but should be uploading them within the week. If there is one that somebody wants sooner, let me know and I will move it to the top of my list.

Are you using the SQLite conversion routines posted elsewhere on the forum? Or, if you don't mind, what methods are you using? Thanks in advance. I made several fairly substantial TheWord modules that I would like to convert (i.e. entire author Libraries). Obviously, I will give them to the e-Sword community if I am successful in converting them.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
