When it comes to "Syntax," I know what it is from a programmer's perspective because we deal with it all the time.

Syntax is the following:

  • A line of code
  • A block of code such as code used in an if statement
  • Referring to all of the code for the program.

But when I see this:

...Syntax of the New Testament

I am stumped!

So, if one of you bright sparks can explain the meaning of Syntax in relation to An Exegetical Syntax of the New Testament will be of a definite help.

Huge thanks and blessings,

syntax, the arrangement of words in sentences, clauses, and phrases, and the study of the formation of sentences and the relationship of their component parts.--Britannica.

bottom line, it is grammar for NT Greek similar to Burton's wk.  It can help think more about the structure of the words.

Syntax is the following:

  • A line of code
  • A block of code such as code used in an if statement
  • Referring to all of the code for the program.--not too far off.
