When I'm in the bible view and click a word to get a definition in the dictionaries section, it shows the word and what it means in the various dictionaries that I have installed, but it shows either the greek or hebrew word in blue letters, yet when i hover on those words in any dictionary it does nothing.

Why not? I mean like i'd like to know what the original root word means and where the word i'm looking up came from, like did it come from another root word in the original languages? am I missing something here?

The words in blue are not links or pop ups, blue is used simply to make the hebrew and greek stand out a little from the standard black text. You should consider adding a more comprehensive dictionary to e-Sword depening on which ones you have already

All of them that come with esword, plus a slew of others I have downloaded from here. It would be easier to name some that do what I want them to do than to list each dictionary I have installed that doesn't do what I would think they all should do.

Hawker, Hitchcock, ISBE, nave, rmac, Schofield, Smith, torrey, webster, Cyclopedia of biblical, theological, and ecclesiastical literature, complete and a-g and h-z dictionaries, Easton, fausset, Hastings, BDB hebrew, KJC, mounce, strongs, thayer, dictionary of Christ in the gospels. Thats what I have so far, and none do what I would think they should do

I'm not putting down esword, but even my free olive tree app lets me look up greek and hebrew words within the dictionary.

There two dictionary modules available called  Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words for e-Sword b y W. E. Vine and Complete Word Study Dictionary: OT and NT for e-Sword by Spiros Zodhiates. Both of these are premium or paid modules available from e-Study Source that might have the information you are seeking. You have tried the others I would have suggested already.

Skip those two and download the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon module from here on bible support:
