#46142 Renaming Bibles

Posted by Katoog on 05 April 2024 - 09:23 AM

Is there any way to fix this, where I can have the full complete names of each bible and them show up in the compare function that way without the kjv kjv+ also showing up?

Yes, you can make a copy of kjv and kjv+ and rename the copies while uncheck the originals in Bible -> Bible Compare Settings

#45627 All caps Greek modules?

Posted by Katoog on 17 December 2023 - 12:48 AM

The Original Greek have not only All Caps but also without spaces between the words.
Except if you understand fluent Greek is there no point to do this and All Caps letters make it harder to link to the dictionaries.

Codex B is full of corrections: so if you want to study Codex B without bias then need you pictures.
And understand the symbols for corrections and the Nomina Sacra (Sacred Names).

There are 2 possible solutions for the orthography problem in e-Sword:
1) Get a font that "read" Greek minicules letters as Caps letters (this is the best solution for the orthography problem).
But letters with accents are still a problem.
My Greek Bible modules use only minicules letters (without accents) and is the easiest to "read" of all the Greek modules here.

2) Edit a module and remove accents(if there are accents) and replace each of the 24 letters).
But the shape of the modern Greek caps letters is not the same as that of the first Century.
There is no Unicode solution.

https://www.miniwebt.../remove-accent/
The text is too long: so to you need to split it in 5 or more parts.

#45118 How to submit a translation?

Posted by Katoog on 27 September 2023 - 12:51 PM

The Bibles and other modules in the e-Sword menu are there uploaded by Rick Meyers who made e-Sword.

Here are "user modules" uploaded.

Some "user modules" became "official modules" if they are popular.

If you want that your module is uploaded then need you to contact Rick Meyers on his website with good arguments.

But it is Rick Meyers who decide to upload it.

#44659 Why the Grey? Greek New Testament (Interlinear) w/ Strong's Numbers

Posted by Katoog on 01 July 2023 - 08:14 AM

Greek NT INT+ is based on the ν = ΝΑ28 [=UBS5] text.

By textual variants for example spelling variants of  "David" is the dark grey based on other sources.

α = Alexandrian [= UBS3/UBS4/NA26/NA27]
τ = Stephens 1550 Textus Receptus
σ = Scrivener 1894 Textus Receptus
β = Byzantine Majority

So ν = ΝΑ28 [=UBS5] text is never dark grey.

#44650 question about searching all e-sword resources

Posted by Katoog on 28 June 2023 - 10:39 PM

If you use the PC version of e-Sword:

For the first question: click on the Bible or Commentary menu and "extended search"

With the Books icon can you select all

For the "hell" search need you also search for Sheol, Hades, Gehenna and Tartarus

I have no hell in my translation because I use Sheol(Hades), Gehenna and Tartarus instead.

The Hebrew Sheol and Greek Hades means underworld or realm of death.

The Greek word Gehenna is a fire place to burn human trash.

The Greek word Tartarus is only used in 2Pe 2:4

For the second question: commentaries that have the verse are marked with a blue info icon. (If v for verse is selected)

#44124 Utility Request

Posted by Katoog on 28 February 2023 - 05:25 AM

Olaf Bacon: ZipScript from "WordSearch 12"(A normal Bible program) has nothing to do with Biblecodes.
This is like Scripture Tooltip with (selected translation) in combination with copy verses.

#43911 Backgrounds for each book

Posted by Katoog on 15 January 2023 - 11:54 PM

The Companion Bible (E. W. Bullinger) Commentary by the Display Book Comments (Book icon with B  has the best outlines of the Commentaries and it use chiasm.
It is downloadable in the e-Sword program.

For the background I need to warn that those who use JEDP for the Books of Moses, or use Deutero-Isaiah, or date the Gospels after 70AD or discrediting the authorship in the Second Epistle of Peter are unbelievers.

#43636 Greek tense of words & verbs

Posted by Katoog on 23 October 2022 - 11:23 PM

I use Robinson Greek Morphology codes in my RTR+M (module Restored Textus Receptus with Strongs and parsing info).

Only verbs have a tense. So every code with V- is a verb in "Robinson's Morphological Analysis Codes"

https://wiki.logos.c...orphology_Codes

  • A – Aorist
  • A2 – Second Aorist
  • F – Future
  • F2 – Second Future
  • I – Imperfect
  • L – Pluperfect
  • L2 – Second Pluperfect
  • P – Present
  • R – Perfect
  • R2 – Second Perfect
  • V – Adverbial Imperative
  • X – No Voice Stated

V-A??-??? and V-A2??-??? are Aorist verbs

___

There is a "Robinson's Morphological Analysis Codes" in the downloadable dictionary of the e-Sword.

MLVDC+G "Modern Literal Version Concordance, Dictionary & Lexicon Greek Concordance" also supports it.

For Hebrew is there the ETCBC commentary by Eliran Wong by the  Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (Fifth Revised Edition) modules.

#43630 Missing font?

Posted by Katoog on 22 October 2022 - 11:18 PM

I use Tahoma as default font.

The problem in TS2009 are the accented letters as in  Ěḏen, Ḥawilah and Giḥon.

I did use the Apple Convertor and export and import it with DB Browser for SQLite.

I have no trouble with kjv-tr+ec+.lex and by using the export and import trick is it only 13,360 KB

#42728 Special Characters

Posted by Katoog on 07 May 2022 - 05:53 AM

Make first a backup.

For the problem with the accents need you a BBLI module that is not locked.

And  "DB Browser for SQLite"

https://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/

Click on File and "Open Database"  "all files (*)" and select the BBLI module.

Click on File and Export "Database to SQL"

Select all Table(s) save and "OK"

The SQL is a kind of text file.

Look to all the words that contain &

Use e-Sword to copy the accented letter of the verse

And replace it all by the accented letter.

The text file must be "save as" UTF-8

If you deal with all the & then need you Import the file and delete the .db after .bbli

#42704 Font size issue with My Utmost for His Highest

Posted by Katoog on 03 May 2022 - 09:20 AM

Use the devi edition for the new e-Sword editions instead of devx.

The coding of the devi edition is simple HTML while the devx. use many needless tab positions.

This is the coding for January 1 in devx
