#45308 Jewish Encyclopedia update 11/06/2023

Posted by Tj Higgins on 06 November 2023 - 02:09 PM

The Jewish Encyclopedia project is approaching completion after months of work and 1 computer failure along the way.

The final stage is assembling the module for uploading here on Bible Support and to that point the module is going to be a very large one. It will be uploaded in dcti format so it can be used on all versions of e-Sword Windows, Apple/Mac and Android.

The Jewish Encyclopedia contains more then 15000 entries from A to Z with more then 1000 images, illustrations and tables.

This is the largest e-Sword project I have worked on to date and maybe one the largest e-Sword modules created.

I apologize for the length of time this has taken to complete but thanks for being patient with my efforts

#45168 Where to put modules on a Family Computer

Posted by Tj Higgins on 05 October 2023 - 10:01 AM

Unless I've missed something with Version 13 when you download modules they are placed in

C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

This makes the modules User Login Specific.

So, should I, and if so, where should I move the modules to?

If all the new modules are in C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword will eSword find them all?

Thanks!

Yes e-Sword will find any module of any type that is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword.

When downloading from this site you should download the modules into your downloads folder and either copy and paste them into the
C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword or you can install the module installer which will install them where you want them

#45134 How to Make e-Sword Modules - ToolTip NT User's Guide - .94 / Revision 2/...

Posted by Tj Higgins on 29 September 2023 - 01:56 PM

I'm sorry to hear about the death of the author of T4. May God watch over and bless his loved ones.

Thank you for sharing with me. Knowing that "T4" is "ToolTip Tool NT" is really helpful. Eventually I'll get up to speed with all the e-Sword and BibleSupport tech lingo.

I've been reading the User Guide I downloaded from this forum and it is helping tremendously. I'm ready to get the T4 (as you say) downloaded and start using it.

In reading the User Guide (and a few posts on this forum) it appears that much of the work can be done on any word processor or even a simple text editor. Is this correct?

If yes, what is the key and absolute necessary component of T4? The "bare bones"? If, say, 90% of the work can be done with a word processor what is that 10% T4 does?

Would you happen to know what programming language he used? I'm just curious. I know some programmers of various different languages, including relatively unknown ones.

Thank you, by the way, to you and everyone who has taken time to read and answer my questions. I know you value your time and I value your time as well!

Sam

Tooltip NT is the only program that will generate modules that e-Sword can read.

You can do the work of assembling and editing modules in other programs per say but you need to process modules using ToolTip for proper file formatting. ToolTip has many functions that other word processors and text editors do not have that are designed specifically for e-Sword  module creation

Tooltip was created using a programming platform called APL2000 Rapid Application Development

#45131 How to Make e-Sword Modules - ToolTip NT User's Guide - .94 / Revision 2/...

Posted by Tj Higgins on 28 September 2023 - 07:25 PM

I'm trying to use "search" in the group forums to find the answers to the questions I have as a new user to the BibleSupport forum. Please forgive me if I ask something that has already been answered.

Reading the ToolTip User's Guide I do not see downloading instructions. (Did I miss it somehow?)

When I attempt to download ToolTip NT (which I did download all three but could only run one) am I supposed to download all three? Or is each one for a different purpose? If yes, which one should I download? I've attached a screen shot for easier understanding of what my dilemma and question is.

You can access the Tooltip Users Guide after you download and install the program, once you have done this run the program and click Help on the menu across the top of Tooltip. This will open the Tooltip Help Menu the last item on the menu is labeled Tooltip NT 2.10 pdf click this and the manual will open in Adobe Acrobat reader.

You only need to install one version of Tooltip, the developer of the Tooltip program always had the most recent version and two prior versions available for download

#45128 How to submit a translation?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 28 September 2023 - 08:57 AM

"Some "user modules" became "official modules" if they are popular."

What is a "user module"? Is it an app/tool used to format text in preparation for being used in the e-Sword app?

Let's say Rick Meyers decides to upload this Indonesian TTR. What exactly will he be uploading? A pdf file? HTML?

What must I do to be ... uploaded?

A user module is a module created by an e-Sword user using e-Sword Tooltip NT which is the module creation tool for creating e-Sword modules. Users can the upload their modules to this site adding their modules to this sites vast collection making them available for all e-Sword users.

Bible modules by design contain just the text of a bible with one verse per-line each line having book, chapter and verse references such as GEN 1:1 for Genesis chapter 1 verse 1

Bible modules can be created in two formats each with its own unique file extension the file extensions are bblx and bbli. The bblx format works on the windows versions of e-Sword only, while bbli format can be used on all versions of e-Sword; Windows, Android and Apple/Mac.

There is a learning curve when learning to create content for e-Sword but once you get the hang of things module creation becomes easy and fun.

#45127 How to submit a translation?

Posted by Tj Higgins on 28 September 2023 - 08:45 AM

I assume you mean "do NOT appear in the list of modules within e-Sword."

About your last statement,

"Modules can be uploaded to this site for downloading and importing into e-Sword"

What does that mean? Does that mean that I can upload the translation to this website and then import it into my e-Sword app for my own personal use?

Yes this site is a repository of more then 3000 free modules for use with e-Sword which can be downloaded into e-Sword for your own use. All of the modules on this site have been created and uploaded by e-Sword users and made available for all e-Sword users and all versions of e-Sword.

All of the modules available on this site are in the public domain and thus not subject to any copyrights which is how they are free. Bible Support does not allow the uploading or distribution of copyrighted works on this site

The list of modules located within e-Sword is a list of copyrighted works for which e-Sword developer Rick Meyers as obtained licenses in order to make them available for e-Sword. The majority of modules available directly through e-Sword are free but there are small number that are premium or paid modules that must be purchased for e-Sword use as part of the licensing deals.

This site is not connected to the e-Sword built-in e-Sword downloader, so modules uploaded here do not appear in the list of modules within e-Sword.

Modules can be uploaded to this site for downloading and importing into e-Sword

#44955 transfer of mysword modules to e-sword

Posted by Tj Higgins on 29 August 2023 - 11:52 AM

I went to their website and downloaded this:

Download:  Simple_Bible_Reader 5.4.1 (10.81 MB)

Then I tried to install it. It gave a fatal application error.

Is there any other way to convert a MyBible file for use in e-sword?

Thanks,

Van

You need to download and install Simple Bible Reader 5.4 before installing 5.4.1

#44880 installing esword 13 on windows 11 over esword 12 did not work crash

Posted by Tj Higgins on 17 August 2023 - 09:31 AM

To whom it may concern;
E-Sword has stopped working and uninstalling and re-installing does not work. It has a severe dll issue that does not grant access to running the program. I've also downloaded and installed the TOOL KIT NT and that does not fix anything on Windows. The Windows app is busted. If you have it installed please do not uninstall and attempt to re-install it on Windows 10 & 11 because you will not regain access. In Windows you cannot do a simple manual dll fix .

SCREENSHOT OF PROOF OF DLL ISSUE ATTACHED.

Please fix the entire e-Sword app and update it ASAP. I once enjoyed this app and want to again. Please fix it. Thank You.

KLC77

e-Sword 13 works fine

The dll file in question is a text control file installed with e-Sword Tooltip NT so you need to reinstall a new installation of Tooltip NT.

Also a second reason that e-Sword 13 may not open is that requires Windows Media Player to be installed so the audio bible feature will work correctly
