#45778 Transferring ESword to a new computer

Posted by Tj Higgins on 10 January 2024 - 08:37 PM

I followed these directions but they did not work for me. I bought a new laptop and copied the files from my old laptop but my Study Notes are not there. The scriptures that I highlighted on my old laptop are highlighted on the new laptop but all the Study Notes are missing.

I installed version 13.0 on my new laptop. My old laptop has version 12.1. Would that matter?

Both laptops are running Windows 11.

I submitted a request for help a couple of days ago but have not received a reply.

I hope someone can help me soon!

Did you copy the notes from the e-Sword folder located in the Documents folder? This is where your journal, topic and study notes are saved to. The need to be copied to the same folder on the new computer

#45766 Reference Books (topx) - The Jewish Encyclopedia Reference Module version

Posted by Tj Higgins on 08 January 2024 - 04:43 PM

File Name: The Jewish Encyclopedia Reference Module version

File Submitter: Tj Higgins

File Submitted: 08 Jan 2024

File Category: Reference Books (topx)

Author: Various
e-Sword Version: Requires 10.1+
Suggest New Tag:: Jewish Encyclopedia, reference, topx, refi

The Jewish Encyclopedia Reference version

On December 18, 2023 I uploaded The Jewish Encyclopedia as a collection of dictionary modules in DCTI format. After doing that I had a thought that it might be worthwhile to also have The Jewish Encyclopedia available as a reference book so e-Sword users could have this encyclopedia available in their reference libraries.

To accomplish this I have broken The Jewish Encyclopedia down in to twelve reference modules, one module for each of the volumes in the encyclopedia's print edition.

The contents of each module are as follows:

Volume 1: AACH to APOCALYPTIC LITERATURE
Volume 2: APOCRYPHA to BENASH
Volume 3: BENCEMERO to CHAZANUTH
Volume 4: CHAZARS to DREYFUS CASE
Volume 5: DREYFUS to BRISAC to GOAT
Volume 6: GOD to ISTRIA
Volume 7: ITALY to LEON
Volume 8: LEON to MORAVIA
Volume 9: MORAWCZYK to PHILIPPSON
Volume 10: PHILIPSON to SAMOSCZ
Volume 11: SAMSON to TALMID HAKAM
Volume 12: TALMUD to ZWEIFEL

Unlike the dictionary version of The Jewish Encyclopedia which was upload in only one file format (dcti), this reference version is available in both topx and refi formats.

The topx files will work on all versions of e-Sword for Windows beginning with version 9 thru the current version 13

The refi files will work on e-Sword for Windows from version 11 on up as well as Android, Apple and Mac versions of e-Sword

#45703 MySword 14.5 and 14.6 released

Posted by Tj Higgins on 27 December 2023 - 02:44 PM

For those who may still be using MySword Android App two new versions have been released since October 2023. The new versions are versions 14.5 and 14.6.

Here is what is new, changed or fixed in these two new versions:

What's new in Version 14.5

  1. Maps improvements:
    1. Fixed the Stamen maps issue being available only up to the end of October 2023.
    2. Added more maps: ArcGIS (Streets and Imagery, for Android Oreo and higher) and Esri (WorldStreetMap, NatGeoWorldMap, WorldImagery).
    3. Option to exclude ArcGIS to speed up Map initial load for slow devices.
    4. Changed the default from Stamen to Esri.NatGeoWorldMap.

The new default Esri.NatGeoWorldMap (Rev 1:11) and ArcGIS.Imagery (2Ki 23:29-30). With ArcGIS.Imagery, if Bible Maps setting is set to Modern Maps only, the zoom level can be higher and ArcGIS provides zoom level similar to Google Maps (NASA maps can't even reach that level as it's satellite based).

    bible-maps-natgeo.jpg bible-maps-arcgis-imagery.jpg

  2. Copy improvement: better support for apps that don't fully support HTML CSS styles as they are not rendered but shown instead. If there are no Red words nor OT quotes and showing them is disabled then no styles will be embedded.
  3. Format (Deluxe) improvements:
    1. Option to break words on en dash and em dash or -- equivalent. Please see Preferences in the Format screen. Note that these will be counted as words so the word count will increase and old formats may adjust.
    2. Common start or end will no longer break additional format. Previously, overlap logic included contained but shorter and either flushed to the start or end so the format is broken into 2.

Gen 1:5 BSB uses em dash (—).

Bugs Fixed in Version 14.5

  1. Large button Editor shows Split pane to the right even if not enabled.
  2. Format (Deluxe) bug: Color, highlight, box, line containing bold/italic/underlined at the end doesn't work.

What's new in Version 14.6

  1. New Display Preference: option to show/hide Compact view bottom buttons as well as Navigation links. They are also available in Bible View Preferences.
  2. New Compact mode custom button (bottom) option: Menu. So aside from the top right Menu overflow, it's now possible to set one bottom button to Menu.
  3. Editor improvement: added Material Icon (Premium) to Insert menu.

    material-icons-editor.png

  4. Export page (Premium) improvement: option to embed Material Icon font. Browsers in recent versions of Android can no longer reference external font files because the URL now starts with content:// instead of file:// so embedding the font is the best option.
  5. Tag (Deluxe) improvement: added Material Icon whose color and size can be set. Use the menu to add.

Bugs Fixed in Version 14.6

  1. Quick menu in Bookmarks, Verse list, Tags popup y position is off in devices with cutouts in portrait mode or when MySword is opened in Split screen bottom or Popup view.
  2. Modules deleted by some File Managers are just hidden by adding a dot at the beginning of the filename causing MySword to treat them as .bbl.mybible, .cmt.mybible, etc showing error (Downloaded module(s) incomplete).
  3. Strong's links on text (Deluxe) with Red words and OT quote may cause the red to end on the first quote like in KJV Mat 9:13, 15:4, 9, Mar 7:10, 12:30, 31.

#45701 The Jewish Encyclopedia is now available

Posted by Tj Higgins on 27 December 2023 - 12:21 PM

The Jewish Encyclopedia has been partially updated as of today.

The updates affect the first two modules which are labeled parts 1 and 2.

The first module has received a minor correct concerning a single entry that was not marked

The second modules correction was a bit more extensive as I discovered that 95 entries were missing under the letter "G". Those entries have been restored to the module.

#45637 The Jewish Encyclopedia is now available

Posted by Tj Higgins on 18 December 2023 - 04:10 PM

After many months of starts, stops, on computer failure along with editing and re-editing of RTF files the Jewish Encyclopedia is now uploaded to Bible Support. Due to the size of the project, I had to divide this project into six individual dcti dictionary modules. These module can be used with all platforms of e-Sword

Additional information and the modules can be found here:

Thank you

No you cannot do that but you can download the modules in the Windows version of e-Sword

#45418 Jewish Encyclopedia update 11/06/2023

Posted by Tj Higgins on 15 November 2023 - 11:00 AM

An update to this update, after reviewing the completed and very large module, I discovered there still some clean up work to be done. This won't take me very long I hope.

Again thanks for everyone's patience

#45348 Jewish Encyclopedia update 11/06/2023

Posted by Tj Higgins on 12 November 2023 - 04:11 PM

I have completed assembling the Jewish Encyclopedia module however I have run into a problem concerning the size of the module. The module is 545 megabytes in size which is too large to upload here on Bible Support. So I created a zip file of the module to upload however the zip file is 375 megabytes which is still too big.

I am going to have to find a way to fix this issue not sure how though, I may end up having to break the module up into smaller modules I am not sure at this point

#45335 Simple Bible Reader 5.4.4 released

Posted by Tj Higgins on 10 November 2023 - 08:13 PM

Simple Bible Reader version 5.4.4 has been released, this version features the following fix:

Release Notes – 5.4.4

  • Some BibleAnalyzer commentaries doesn’t load – fixed.

Simple Bible Reader is a great tool for converting modules very quickly and efficiently. One advantage SBR has over the e-Sword module converter is the ability to perform bulk conversions of multiple files.

#45308 Jewish Encyclopedia update 11/06/2023

Posted by Tj Higgins on 06 November 2023 - 02:09 PM

The Jewish Encyclopedia project is approaching completion after months of work and 1 computer failure along the way.

The final stage is assembling the module for uploading here on Bible Support and to that point the module is going to be a very large one. It will be uploaded in dcti format so it can be used on all versions of e-Sword Windows, Apple/Mac and Android.

The Jewish Encyclopedia contains more then 15000 entries from A to Z with more then 1000 images, illustrations and tables.

This is the largest e-Sword project I have worked on to date and maybe one the largest e-Sword modules created.

I apologize for the length of time this has taken to complete but thanks for being patient with my efforts

#45168 Where to put modules on a Family Computer

Posted by Tj Higgins on 05 October 2023 - 10:01 AM

Unless I've missed something with Version 13 when you download modules they are placed in

C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

This makes the modules User Login Specific.

So, should I, and if so, where should I move the modules to?

If all the new modules are in C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword will eSword find them all?

Thanks!

Yes e-Sword will find any module of any type that is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword.

When downloading from this site you should download the modules into your downloads folder and either copy and paste them into the
C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword or you can install the module installer which will install them where you want them

#45134 How to Make e-Sword Modules - ToolTip NT User's Guide - .94 / Revision 2/...

Posted by Tj Higgins on 29 September 2023 - 01:56 PM

I'm sorry to hear about the death of the author of T4. May God watch over and bless his loved ones.

Thank you for sharing with me. Knowing that "T4" is "ToolTip Tool NT" is really helpful. Eventually I'll get up to speed with all the e-Sword and BibleSupport tech lingo.

I've been reading the User Guide I downloaded from this forum and it is helping tremendously. I'm ready to get the T4 (as you say) downloaded and start using it.

In reading the User Guide (and a few posts on this forum) it appears that much of the work can be done on any word processor or even a simple text editor. Is this correct?

If yes, what is the key and absolute necessary component of T4? The "bare bones"? If, say, 90% of the work can be done with a word processor what is that 10% T4 does?

Would you happen to know what programming language he used? I'm just curious. I know some programmers of various different languages, including relatively unknown ones.

Thank you, by the way, to you and everyone who has taken time to read and answer my questions. I know you value your time and I value your time as well!

Sam

Tooltip NT is the only program that will generate modules that e-Sword can read.

You can do the work of assembling and editing modules in other programs per say but you need to process modules using ToolTip for proper file formatting. ToolTip has many functions that other word processors and text editors do not have that are designed specifically for e-Sword  module creation

Tooltip was created using a programming platform called APL2000 Rapid Application Development
