No, I'm not saying it's bad. I'm not qualified to judge the scholarship of a work I've barely read. The author's email comments were contrary to my own opinion so I didn't look further at the work.

Hi, this is an extract from the "About" info of the module. I gather that this is not the completed work, but some sort of work-in-progress???

Preview Edition A - October 2008

Hope this helps. Jon

WHAT IS NEW
______________

Other than the parts of speech, care has been taken to remove the use of abbreviations from the Greek dictionary so that the new and occasional student may easily comprehend every definition without referring the list of abbreviations.

Substantial work has been completed for the Greek dictionary and is under way for the Hebrew dictionary.

• These dictionaries are normalized and designed for computer and Internet use as well as for print.
• All Greek text is encode using Unicode.
• Added and enhanced the parts of speech.
• All persons have been identified using “n/p” for parts of speech.
• All locations have been identified using “n/l” or “adj/l” for parts of speech.
• All groups have been identified using “n/g” or “adj/g” for parts of speech.
• All pronouns types have been identified.
• Archaic words have been updated.
• Hard-to-understand definitions and difficult one-word definitions were simplified and/or elaborated upon to retain precise meaning.
• Definitions that simply referred to another entry were updated to include the entry's full text. No more redirection.
• Definitions that were obscure or that contained euphemisms have been clarified.
• All cities mentioned in these dictionaries were individually researched and those cities belonging to Israel were labeled as a city in Israel.
• No other name but “Israel” is used to refer to the land of Israel, its cities, its borders, or its occupants.
• Errors in Roots, Compare, and See Also entries have been corrected.

Hi all,

Here is a Topic file and RTF of a comparison of Strongs from e-Sword and Mickelson from The Word Bible Software.

Attached File  Strong vs Mickelson.zip   26.07K   16 downloads

What version of Mickelson is in the Word? For this one seems to be the same. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Right, just formatting differences in those examples.

hi,

thank you, that is what I thought. Just want to make sure that I was seeing correctly. So there is no real reason to have it unless you like the format. And if he releases the updated version with more information (text).

Another question is why does the Word have Mickelson instead of Strongs?

Thanks for answering my question about the differences between Strongs and Mickelson

I use both programs..E-Sword is still my favorite, although a few have totally switched from E-Sword to The Word. As far as the Mickelson vs Strongs..just off the top i seem to have read that Mickelson refers itself as an Enhanced version of Strongs. I have done a few comparisons with Strongs and a couple of other Lexicons, and the only enhancement i have found seems to be rather unfavorably to The King James Authorized. But it is the default Dictionary for The Word, which is surprizing in that the converts to The Word software that i know are staunch defenders of The King James. Just my thoughts however.

The anti-King James statements and the for a "future generation" talk ended my interest a year or two ago when I discussed it with him, honestly.

When I read his diatribe the first thought that flashed into my head was "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector..."

Funny that.

Thanks for the input Josh, saw it in TW and after reading above I am in the same boat as you (interest ended)
