What is the specific procedure to add a bookmark? I have done alt+#
but the default bookmark John 3:16 remains.

Your aide is appreciated!

Select the verse you want to bookmark, then right click the bookmark tab you want to use, and the bookmark should be added.

Step one: Ensure that the Bookmark Navigator is visible. If not click on Options and check mark "Display Bookmark Navigator".
Step two: Left-click on and drag to high-light the verbiage of the verse you wish to bookmark.
Step three: Right-click on the bookmark you wish to be associated with your verse

You are done.

I'll just point out that bookmark.lstx is ignored by e-Sword. The only purpose served by editing that file, is to waste your time.

The values for bookmarks are stored in the system registry!

Jonathon,

Huh? Who is editing anything?

I suspect you misread what I wrote ... or just as likely, I did not do as good a job explaining as I thought I did

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Changing the values of the bookmarks is editing the bookmarks.

My response was to forstall the almost inevitable "I edited bookmark.lstx, but the new verses don't show up" question.

The bookmark.lstx is not the same animal as the bookmarks this user wants to set. Bookmark.lstx is the title of a default verse list file.
So bookmark.lstx is not ignored by e-Sword and will be recreated upon program restart if it was deleted.

Ahhhh, a preventative strike. Good call.

I thought you were trying to say I was editing something which implies that I may be as intelligent and as experienced as Josh, BH, Raymond or you. If you were, I must protest that you give me far more credit than I deserve. I can occasionally make pretty pictures but that about sums up my abilities. I must leave the technical stuff to you bulging brain types.

Is there a way to bookmark in the commentaries and other resources?
