The only module I have ever seen that had anything like the footnotes to tool tip is the NASB+ module included with the NASB set from estudysource. I'm not sure that they will reveal the secret to anyone.

I have a copy of Langes (12 volumes) that I picked up used (at a garage sale) it is missing volume 4 so it was cheap (like if you want it take it) . I can see what you mean about it being difficult to set up in a standard e-sword format.
Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

Let me see if I understand what you're saying. You are making footnotes where you can click the footnote number and the footnote will pop up (ala tooltip)? Or does it link to the bottom of the document?

Really wish I could figure out how to make the footnotes in a Bible actually have the pop-up footnote instead of having to make a cmtx file for the cross-references and small notes.

I'm right there with you I've asked Rick to release this to the public because it would greatly benefit allot of third party modules but for some reason and I cant understand he has not. I pray that some time soon he will release it.

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Hello Josh,

How goes the Langes conversion process? Many of us are greatly aniticipating the completed release.
It is coming up close to the 14 days that you mentioned previously, do you think that is still within reach?

Josh is working so hard on Langes that he probably has not seen your comment yet :). I know he is working hard on it, I am not sure where he stands on his 14 day goal.

I'm almost 3/4 of the way through the Old Testament. :) It's taken longer than I thought.

The person who originally divided the work into HTML made some mistakes. Rather than follow Lange's natural breaks, he force fit content into single chapters. Indeed, many times Langes breaks his commentary along chapter lines. Or Langes might break a chapter into 5 pieces.

But other times, Langes discusses 2 or 3 chapters at once. This latter option becomes a real issue, because chapter 2 is still being discussed in chapter 3's comments (as divided by the guy who made the HTML files). If the comments are not all together, it's hard to follow. Langes always begins a section by quoting the passage and he footnotes his comments about that passage. It makes no sense to quote chapter 3 (and its footnotes) in chapter 2's comments. It all needs to be together since Lange wrote it that way.

It also wreaks havoc on a script that assumes all content in this file is for chapter x. :) So, I'm just sorting those back out and making the commentary flow along Lange's original breaks. No matter what, when a chapter is divided into 5 pieces or when 2-3 chapters are discussed at once, I also have to manually move those footnotes so they appear with the comments.

The book introductions also require manual intervention to make implicit references explicit. I can run a script over it that just finds the last reference in the text and assume that's going to be the current book/chapter, but that is so error prone, I'll just take a little extra time to do it right.

Whatever you do, do not hold your breath as this could lead to you turning purple. And if that happens, you'll have the One eyed one horned Purple People Eater chasing after you. (This is getting really crazy). ROFL.gif

More on the sort of serious side of things. If I know anything about Josh (which really isn't all that much) I know this, when he's all done and dusted with Lange's, he's gonna make a big noise about it, and you can be sure there's gonna be a huge rush to download it by all and sundry. At a rough guess, with all the members wanting to get it, and the amount of people downloading it, I reckon its gonna crash the Server. Wooo! Can you just imagine that? Be great fun if that happened.

Blessings,

I can go along with that, not a problem. And that would be one real kinky One Eyed, One horned Purple People Eater I've ever seen ROFL.gif Split my sides laughing over this. Totally crazy!!!

Talk about ancient history!!!

Yep, you're not wrong. Around the early to mid 1960s I think. And I got both of those songs on a CD, as well as Rubber Ball Come Bouncing Back to me. Cool hey!.

This is really getting off topic isn't it.
