Again a new Finnish translation was needed in the early 20th century, and a translation committee was set up in 1911. It had its work ready 1933. The full edition of the Bible was published in 1938. This edition is often referred to as the Vuoden 1938 kirkkoraamattu (the Year 1938 Church Bible). It was translated by the Finnish Lutheran Church and intended for Lutheran use. As the method of translation was "one source language word - one Finnish word", its text is very archaizing, and it uses dialectal terms obsolete even during the era. The 1938 edition consisted of Old Testament, deuterocanonicals and New Testament. This Finnish Bible 1933/38 was not based on the Textus Receptus, as was the Biblia 1776, and for instance, the English King James Version.
