If you have not filed a technical report to the developer, perhaps now would be a good time. On the main Help menu of e-Sword there is an item "Technical support"

Have you tried different Bible translations to see if you can get any results with those?

I get similar results for all translations, that is to say, only REGEX search gives any results.

Although I find it interesting that there is such a vast difference in the number of times the word Jesus is found in different translations (e.g. 900 times in KJV and 1800 times in ERV), but I'm guessing that has to do with the translation and not the search function.

Yup, I checked it out, it seems every other time the ERV uses the name of Jesus, the KJV uses the word "He".
So that's no mystery

"Jesus" REGEX NT returns 936 results.

"Jesus" ALL words NT gives me 0 results

"Jesus" ANY words NT gives me 0 results

I've replicated the bottom 2 searches and taken screenshots of them. As you will see, I've had no problems with the results.

On both of these I got results, and the only thing that I can conlude is you did something prior to clicking on the Search Button that would give you a zero result

Had the same problem after install / re-install. Turns out it was a problem with search on XP. MS support had a fix for this:
To see if your computer has the problem, type start --> search. If nothing comes up, your computer needs this fix.

After re-boot, worked perfect.
Praise the Lord for e-sword, what a great tool!
