Somehow, I redirected the Topic Notes tab in the Editors window.

It is now loading only a specific book there when I click , rather than my topic notes.

How to relink just that window back, to load original source (topic notes; and restore book to reference books location)?

I'd rather not have to uninstall, reinstall everything.

TY for any help.

I recommend that you fix the authorization for loading files in the directories where the files are to be loaded, because Microsoft is currently changing security options in Windows 10 on 20H2 (applicable from October 2020 until March 2021) for allowing files to be loaded in the PC; I contacted Rick Meyers at e-Sword.net to find out what he recommends.
First, check where the e-Sword is loading your files at present. Run e-Sword, and look in the option: "Options"; "Resource settings"; for either Bibles; Commentaries; Dictionaries; Devotions; Graphics; and Reference Books. You will notice that there are two windows listed.
The "Resource Location" window lists where the filename.refx and filename.topx files will be, which you can view through the Reference Library window. This is where other files are to be loaded as well. e-Sword.exe will also be loaded here. These files are viewed through the e-Sword windows.
From inside e-Sword, the "Tools" option gives access to the Bible Reading; Daily Devotions; Prayer Requests; Scripture Memory, Graphics Viewer; Reference Library; SermonAudio.com; and STEP Reader.
The "User Files Location" window lists where the filename.topx files are, which you can view, and can edit with the Editor windows. When e-Sword is loaded from url="https://e-sword.net/" this will create a few files in the User Files Location to store your user data. Bookmarks.lstx journal.jnlx (Journal Notes), study.notx (Study Notes), topic.notx (Topic Notes), and markup.ovlx (highlighting and marking). These files are located in your e-Sword *user* directory. This is typically C:\Users\user\My Documents\e-Sword\ folder, in a 32-bit system, or in C:\Users\user\Documents\e-Sword\ folder in Windows 10 64-bit operating system.
FILES IN USER DOCUMENTS DIRECTORY
If you put your filename.topx files in your e-Sword "user" directory, then you can use the built-in Editors for Journal Notes; Study Notes; and Topix Notes, to edit the files. If, on the other hand, you have the filename.topx files in the C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword\ folder, then you will be able to read them through the Reference Library Book window, with the other filename.refx files.
Refer to e-Sword user-guide, page 2, accessible with function key F1.
AUTHORIZATION TO DOWNLOAD FILES
If files downloaded from https://e-sword.net do not have authorization to load into the C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder, then the downloaded file may occur in the following folder. C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder.
To see an index of files in this folder with the Edge browser, use the option "file:///C:/users/user/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program%20Files%20(x86)/e-Sword/" without the double quotes before and after the link.
Rick Meyers says that, when this occurs, "It is a Windows permissions issue on the e-Sword program directory. Set the "Security" on the e-Sword program directory (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword\) *AND* the files within it to allow the "Everyone" account Full Control.
Then you can open the downloading folder, and select the file, to instruct the PC to run and to install the downloaded file."
HOW TO FIX THE AUTHORIZATION (please close e-Sword before you do this).
In Windows 10 use the option to Start, click on the icon to browse which looks like a hand-help magnifying glass. Select "File Explorer". Browse to the the following folder: This PC, Windows (C:)\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword
Move the pointer over the folder, and Left click with the pointer on the folder, to identify to the PC that you are at the option to select the folder; then right click to view options, and click to select "Properties". You now have access to options for the contents of the folder of e-Sword Properties. Click on the "Security" tab. You will see the Object name, for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword.
We want to change the authorisations in the Group or user names. We will do what Rick Meyers advised me to do.
Is the name "Everyone" there? Please read all the instruction which appears on the screen. Notice the instruction, which says "To change permissions, click Edit." You will see the Edit button. Move the pointer over the word "Edit" and left click on "Edit". You will see the Permissions for the e-Sword folder. The Object name = C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword. In Group or User names, click on "Everyone". If the name is not listed, then use the button "Add", and enter the name Everyone and then tap the option "Check Names" to check that your spelling is correct and is accepted. Now, to Change Permissions for "Everyone" to "Full Control", in the window titled "Permissions for Everyone", in the "Allow" column, click on the option which will grant "Full control"; you will notice that all the available options will then be selected, then click on the "Apply" button. Click on OK to exit this Permissions option window.
On my PC I have also added "Everyone" the same access in my user documents directory, which is at This PC, Windows (C:)\Users\user\Documents\e-Sword folder. Now, for the files you want to be able to edit, copy them into your user documents directory
I recommend that you load the latest version of e-Sword direct from https://e-sword.net/ which will load over the existing files, if e-Sword is closed.
HOWTO-LOAD-e-SWORD
Use a browser to access the 256-bit enabled secure site, on the internet, https://e-sword.net
Select the Downloads option. Load e-Sword onto the PC from https://e-sword.net/downloads.html
In the notification area, right at the bottom of the Edge browser screen, the PC will prompt "What do you want to do with e-sword_1220_setup.exe?
Options: [Open button], [Save as] button [... Options]
Click on the ellipsis Options; to be able to see the additional options "Save", "Cancel".
If the user does not respond, then nothing will be downloaded.
The progress of download will be displayed at the bottom of the screen in the system notification area. If the "show all" option is selected, then progress of the visual display of progress with the Downloads is seen. The filename of the target file is shown, as modified by an added number enclosed in round brackets, if the filename already existed in the folder. The full path to the source address of the file is shown, the progress bar is shown, the speed of download, and progress of size of the download is shown, together with the estimated time remaining in minutes left. Options in the Edge browser are "Pause", and "Cancel". When downloading has completed, the options changes to "Show in folder".
You can check the settings in the browser, of the download option, to see path of the folder where your browser is wanting to download the file. When prompted, authorize that the file is to be saved; and authorize that the file is to be kept on the PC. Use the browser settings in the download option to view the contents of the download folder, to see if the file is there, and if the file has completed fully downloading. Then select the file and tell the PC to "run" or "Open" the file. Please pay attention to all notifications, and respond to screen option prompts.
TO DOWNLOAD e-Sword FROM https://e-sword.net/downloads.html
To download and install e-Sword on your PC, please follow these simple steps:
Click the top button that says "e-Sword Install". When your browser's Save dialog appears, choose "Save" to start the download. After it has completing download, successfully, Open/Run the file (for example by opening the folder where you saved it and double-clicking the installation file). There is no need for uninstalling older versions before updating. The installation program will prompt you with on-screen information which guides you through the rest of the process. It is recommended to use the default settings for installation. If you need help in getting started using e-Sword, visit the Training page, https://e-sword.net/training.html [remote site].
SAVING TO THE PC
When prompted, you need to select the option to tell the PC to "Save" the file. Unless the questions are answered, the download option will not proceed, and will be blocked by the PC.
Again the query is provided, "what do you want to do with ? Options: Open, Save, Save as, Cancel.
After the user has authorized the file to be saved, it is then downloaded. When file has downloaded, the notification options are: "Open"; "Always open files of this type"; "Show in folder"; "Copy download link"; "Report this file as unsafe"; "Delete file"; and "Cancel". Here again, it is useful to select "show in folder". In the Edge browser, this will also indicate the full pathname of where the file came from, and the full path name where the downloaded file is located. Then click on the file.

If your computer responds, and the notification informs you for example: .exe was blocked because it could harm your device. Options are: "Delete", "..." Click on the ellipsis, to see further options, which are: "Keep", "Report this file as safe", and "Learn More".
The "Learn More" calls up the file from the internet https://docs.microso...screen-overview information. The "Keep" option calls up a pop-up, "This app might harm your device. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen reported that this app is not commonly downloaded; you should only open files you trust."
The following details are then supplied:
Name:
Publisher:
File origin: Hard drive on this computer.
Show more: Keep anyway, Report this app as safe, Learn more.
The user must make a selection; select "Keep anyway". Then the file which is downloaded is viewable in the downloads folder.
Clicking on the file, might again result in the response, "Windows protected your PC. Microsoft Defender prevented an unrecognised app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. More info. [button: "Don't run".]
Application: and Publisher: and the Button options [Run anyway], [Don't run]. Just respond by selecting "run anyway". This then will be able to run.

THE E-SWORD MODULE INSTALLER
The e-Sword Module Installer application from BIBLESUPPORT.com is very useful to quickly copy a file with an e-Sword type filename extension, from the directory in your PC where the file has been downloaded, into the relevant e-Sword folder. However, the programmer forgot to include filename.lexx in the coding of e-Sword Module Installer.
HOWTO RESOLVE THIS NEGLECT: To link a file with filename.lexx filetype extension, so that it will call up the e-Sword Module Installer application, "moduleinstaller.exe", click on a file with the filetype indicated by the four-letter extension after the point, ".lexx"; then when prompted for what to use for the option "open with", browse to the required file, which is the e-Sword Module Installer, which you will find with the short filename, which does not mention "e-Sword" in the filename, in the PC at the following address: C:\Program Files\e-Sword Module Installer\ModuleInstaller.exe
and, then, also remember to select the box with the prompt, "Always use this app to open these files", so that there will be a tick or X in that box. Once you have set this, and you have approved the change to occur, then again select the following options, "Start", "Settings", type the word "filetype", and select the option "Choose a default app for each type of file", and use the slider at the right of the window to browse down the list, of different filename types, and verify that the PC has linked .lexx to the moduleinstaller.exe application.
BIBLE SUPPORT INFORMATION ABOUT THE e-SWORD FILES AND USE OF THE E-SWORD MODULE INSTALLER
There is information on the BIBLE SUPPORT website in the following folder options about the e-Sword Module Installer:
Topic information is: http://www.biblesupp...dule-installer/
Topic further details: http://www.biblesupp...n-a-windows-pc/
Downloads: http://www.biblesupp...dule-installer/

COMMENT: When using the e-Sword Module Installer, version 0.6, the window of the folder address displays a back-slash after the folder name, in the "Resources Location" window for C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder, but the window of the folder does not display the backslash at the end of the address to C:\Users\user\Documents\e-Sword\

Now, find where your files disappeared to. Move your cursor over the filename, and left click on the filename.topx and Module Installer ought to run. Load the second window with the address of your "User Files Location" folder. Pay careful attention here, you do not want the folder name duplicated. Then let Module Installer copy the file for you.
With this information you ought to be able to help other e-Sword users as well, with their problems.

e-sword 12.0.1; Windows 10

The filename.topx files which are in your User Files Location folder: C:\Users\user\Documents\e-Sword folder, can be edited and viewed in the Editor Maximized window (Ctrl+F5). To browse the filenames, use the window at the very bottom of the screen; to the extreme right of that window, notice the little downward pointer. Click that, or click the visible filename to expand the window. Then use the slider, at the extreme right edge, to browse up and down through the file names.
If the filename.topx files are in the Resources Location folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder, then view the files in the e-Sword Reference Library window, which can be accessed on the right-most icon shaped like three books on a book shelf.
For more details please consult the e-Sword User's Guide, page 2, and chapter 8 to chapter 11. This is accessed from inside e-Sword on the F1 function key, which is the usual key used by Microsoft to access the Help screen options.
If you want to download a copy of the e-Sword User's Guide, last updated by Josh Bond of Bible Support, version 10.4 This is at http://www.biblesupp...-revision-8114/ from where it can be downloaded in English, and in Spanish, in PDF format, with the file name "guide_1040.pdf", which you could save as e-Sword-Users-Guide-v1040.pdf so that you know what it is. The English copy is 257 pages. The Spanish copy is 251 pages.
