covert.exe will not open. Using it inside the crossover bottle that it sets up. When pressing on the convert.exe run command a run command window comes up using the bottle convert.exe. It has an empty command line and a browse button. When pressing on the browse button it goes to the c_drive folder. Inside that folder are 3 folders ... Program Files, users, windows. Not sure what to do next. Not sure what command line to use.

I am not too sure I can help any further as I do not have an Intel based Mac to test on.

However, a screen shot from you of what you are getting would help in trying to guess at a solution.

     Thank you for your helpful posts.  I have just installed e-Sword X and there are really only 2 things I need to figure out in order to make it useful to me:

1. Convert the modules / files I already have, e.g. Study, Topic, and Journal files.  The above seems to provide some guidance there.

2. Create Scripture reference links in the Editor.  In the Windows version it is quite easy, highlight a reference and hit CTRL-J and the link is there.  I see no such functionality in e-Sword X.

Can someone provide an assist here on item 2, creating scripture reference links in the editor?

For anyone who still has trouble finding the modules folder can use this method.

In order to access that folder you need you make it visible. Open terminal app then enter this command in the terminal app: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true

Then press enter, and type the the second code: killall Finder

This will restart the Finder and will make the the fold visible. Navigate to  /Users/name of the computer/Library/Containers/net.e-sword.e-Sword-X/Data/Library/Application Support

In this folder all the modules will be downloaded. 

Right Click on the Application Support folder and Make Alias

This will create a shortcut to the folder even if the files are hidden. Drag the Application Support alias  anywhere on the computer for ease of access to modules and then open terminal again and type: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean false

Then press enter, and type the the second code: killall Finder

The code entered will hide all the folders back while still having the shortcut to the modules.

Having said that I immediately see there is serious need for an upgrade as soon as possible. Hopefully someone who has influence with the creators of this software might take note of these problems.

The red button to shut down the software is not activated at the top left of the window.

It is impossible to turn off any of the frames or views to make more room for the ones you want to focus on.

The helps are poor to non-existent for many things. Evidently you are supposed to know someone with the answers and if not, good luck.

Without ability to have full screen views for a single function it is very hard to compare very many versions as in the PC software. Hopefully they change this soon.

I couldn't find any information about maps except an unexplained picture on the web page. They say this is supposed to be so intuitive you may never have to open help. I disagree and even help does not help enough.

I am glad we now have a smoother running and more stable version for MAC, but a number of improvements will make it much more appealing.

I just installed the convert.exe file through Crossover on my MAC but all it did was install the latest version of e-Sword. I can't find any convert function after installation. I need this to change over the many Bible versions now in Crossover to e-Sword X

I am not going to be tough on this first version, at all. I know we all like to complain, but I am really thankful that there is now a Mac version. I know that Rick has always made steady improvements in the iPad and iPhone versions, and I expect he is making improvements the Mac version as we write our complaints. Yes, there are things that we consider need changing. But it is more than worth the wait. 

Let me tell you what is good: It's incredibly FAST. It makes the Windows version feel like a horse and buggy, a canoe without a paddle.

I know the red button to quit is missing, but a Mac user should also know to quit is as easy as Command-Q. 

I might make one request/comment: I think I miss the Tool-Tip hover. Right now you have to click on a Tool-Tip to make the balloon appear. I'd love the option to turn that on or off.

I expect those little things will be fixed very soon. I recall that when the iOS versions came out Rick had a very different idea of how people would use them. He thought people would just sit in a chair but the fireplace and use the iPad to read a daily devotion. However, if you have an iPad you will find that after adding every module you have to it, it will become a go-to device for study, note taking (that area needs some upgrading though), and portability.  I stopped using a paper Bible a year ago. Now, every resource I have goes with me everywhere. It is quite amazing. Consider that once you may have had shelves filled with massive volumes, and now they ALL fit in a device you carry everywhere, and they are fully searchable! Seriously awesome.
