Hello helpful, please explain in more detail - exactly what was the name if the source page on Bible Support from where you obtained the "commentary.exe" that you mentioned. Or give us the exact spelling of the installation wizard that you refer to as "commentary.exe", as that sounds like an installation wizard to send the module to a particular target directory folder.
When you ran the "commentary.exe", did that give the target destination folder spelled exactly the same way, as the name of the directory folder that is shown on the tag, "Option", "Resource Settings" in the window that lists the "Resources Location"?
Did you remember to exit e-Sword, and then re-start e-Sword to see the newly added resources? - Did the newly added resource then fail to appear among the other Commentary entries?

I installed commentary.exe, nothing related to Bible or commentary happened...Reading, scanning the forum shows 99% of it is ancient news.

e-Sword User's Guide
For all who use a PC or laptop running Microsoft Windows, when you download the latest versions of e-Sword available from Rick Meyers website, which you access on the DOWNLOAD option from his website, then you will receive a setup file. When you run that, e-Sword will be loaded into the C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword directory folder. There will also be a copy of the latest associated files in the same directory folder for the following modules: e-Sword.exe and e-Sword.tip and License.pdf and e-sword_guide.pdf [as last updated 2014-07-31].

When e-Sword is running, then you can select the "Help" Tab to access the e-Sword User's Guide F1. This will load from your laptop. or PC.
You will find a link to access the Tip Of The Day. This was last updated with version 14.1.0. Most details still apply to later varieties of e-Sword.
You will also find a direct link to the Technical Support option, which will link you to the CONTACT option on Rick Meyer's website, where you can identify the version of e-Sword you have loaded and then ask a question about the problem you are puzzled with at present. Explain exactly what is puzzling you, so he understands your Suggestion, or Problem.
The link to Training Demos... will take you to the TRAINING option on Rick Meyer's website.
The User Group link will bring you to the BIBLE SUPPORT website.
The About... option will pop-up the latest License and this will identify the version of e-Sword that you are running.

Thanks!
