e-Sword 15 — What's New A Total Redesign of the User Interface
After 25 years, it was time. We went back to basics — super simple, super powerful — to make Bible study easier than ever. The new layout strips away clutter and puts the tools you actually use front and center, so nothing stands between you and the text. New users will find their way around the app in minutes, with an interface that feels intuitive from the very first click. Seasoned users might feel a bit of culture shock at first — muscle memory built over years does not disappear overnight — but give it a chance. Once you settle in, you will find your study time is faster, more focused, and more productive than ever before.
Strong's Number Searching Has Never Been Easier
Press CTRL+W to bring up the currently active verse in the KJV+, then right-click any number to instantly find every other occurrence of it throughout the text. No more digging through menus or typing numbers by hand — the connection between a word and its original-language root is now just a click away. Search results are now docked alongside the Bible, so you can review your findings without losing your place in the text.
Cross-References, Tagged Verses, and History — Now Docked with the Bible
These panels sit right with your Bible text instead of popping up in separate windows, so you can move between related verses, your personal tags, and your recent activity without breaking your concentration. Everything you need for deep study is now just a click away.
Introducing Super Search
Go beyond individual module searches and search your entire library at once. Whether you are hunting for a phrase across every commentary you own, tracking a theme through multiple translations, or trying to remember which resource mentioned a particular detail, Super Search casts a wide net across your whole library so you do not have to search one module at a time.
Switch Layouts Instantly with the New Views Selector
Whether you are doing deep exegetical study, quick topical lookups, or sermon prep, different tasks call for different arrangements of your workspace. The Views selector lets you save and recall your favorite window layouts so you are never stuck rearranging windows mid-study. Jump between a distraction-free reading view and a full research layout with a single click, and pick up right where your workflow left off.
Editors Now Include a Toolbar Ribbon
Formatting, note-taking, and editing tools are now right at your fingertips — without eating into your writing space. The ribbon keeps commonly used functions visible and accessible, so you can format notes, sermons, and personal commentary as smoothly as you would expect from a modern word processor, all while staying focused on your content.
Whole-Verse Highlighting Has Arrived
Unlike text-selection highlights, which only mark exactly the words you select, whole-verse highlights apply to the entire verse — and carry across every Bible translation you own. Highlight a verse once in your favorite color, and it stays highlighted no matter which translation you switch to, giving you a consistent visual map of the passages that matter most to you.
Verse Tagging Replaces the Old VerseList Feature
Making it the research feature you cannot live without! Create as many tags as you need — topics, sermon series, character studies, whatever fits the way you study — and attach them to any verse in seconds. Unlike the old VerseList, tags are not limited to a single flat list: you can apply multiple tags to the same verse, letting one passage live in several studies at once. Browse all your tagged verses in the newly docked Tagged Verses panel, filter by tag to pull up every related verse instantly, and watch your research take shape as you go. Whether you are preparing a sermon, working through a topical study, or just tracking verses that speak to you, Verse Tagging turns scattered notes into an organized, searchable body of work.
All User Files Are Now Fully Compatible Across e-Sword Platforms
Your notes, tags, highlights, and other user files work seamlessly between devices — Android, iPhone, and more.
