#11780 Question about scanners

Posted by StandingFirm on 17 August 2012 - 06:51 PM

I have some older books and documents in by print library that I would like to scan and then make modules from them.  I don't have a scanner.  What should I look for in a scanner if I want to scan documents and make modules?  Will I need anything else in order to accomplish this?  Thanks!

I Googled "audio Matthew Henry" and came up with this.  http://antigopresbyt...org/matthew.htm  I listened to only a few seconds of a file.  Let me know what you think.

Church History in Plain Language by Bruce Shelley is on sale until the 29th.  It looks like a good resource though I am not familiar with it.  With the discount code HIST it is on sale at $9.99.  The print version on Amazon is almost double that amount.

#8966 Esword on a Tablet

Posted by StandingFirm on 09 May 2012 - 07:39 PM

My wife has a small tablet but it doesn't have a lot of memory.  Is it possible to load esword on an external drive or does it have to be on the C drive?  Thanks!

Awesome Josh.  Wow that was fast.  It would have taken me many weeks to do this.  I deeply appreciate your work - for this module and for all everything that you have done here at BibleSupport.  Have a great day and my God richly bless you.

#5947 Training Videos

Posted by StandingFirm on 26 January 2012 - 07:51 PM

Has anyone made training videos on how to use esword in bible study or sermon preparation using version 10?  I think there is probably a lot that I could do with esword in my studies etc that I am not taking advantage of.  The pdf does a great job of explaining the various features but it would be great to see how to fit it all together in a study or a series of studies.  We have a lot of great help here providing instruction on how to make modules and a ton of materials to aid us in our studies but it would be great to watch someone put a study together explaining the various steps and the features of esword.

#4561 Tablet Computers

Posted by StandingFirm on 12 December 2011 - 07:49 PM

I have esword on my desktop and laptop.  I hear a lot of talk about tablet computers.  Would a tablet be suitable for esword and other bible software programs?  Does anyone have esword on a tablet?  If so, how is it working for you?  I am thinking that a tablet would be better for taking to church services and workshops etc.  Even my laptop is a bit cumbersome to take to church,  I don't want just a reader.  I want to be able to record notes, search etc.  I also want to use it much in the same way that I use my print bible.  I was looking at a Toshiba tablet online and it looks interesting, but can I use it the way I want to, and can it do what I want it to do?  Any info on tablet computers will be appreciated.

#4483 J Vernon McGee Commentary

Antares, even if you have to purchase it, it is a real deal.  It is only $40.00, probably less than it costs for a dinner out or what it would cost you to go to a concert and will give you many hours of enjoyment.  I checked the price of it with two other Bible software companies, one of them has it at $80.00 and the other at $90.00 so you are getting it at half price at least.  Just a thought, most of us spend hundreds of dollars for food (physical nourishment) each month, but spend very little on our spiritual nourishment.  A loaf of  bread lasts a day but the living bread lasts through eternity. There is a wealth of free materials here at biblesupport and we should take advantage of it but don't hesitate to invest in other resources when you need them.

#4434 Stopping By To Say Hello

Posted by StandingFirm on 08 December 2011 - 09:25 PM

Hello everyone.  Just stopping by to say hello and thank-you for all your hard work.  There is a ton of really valuable materials here.  The only problem is choosing with ones to work with.  I have been using e-sword for a number of years now but have not really gone deep into module creation, though I have created some basic modules for my own studies.  For the person who wants to learn how to create modules I think this is the place to learn that.  Version 10 is a great improvement though I think we will see even better things down the road.  One problem that I have is spending time searching and downloading modules and not spending enough time in actual hard study.  I think if I was bitten with the "module creation" bug it wouild be even harder.  That said, at some point I do want to learn how to better create modules and to use the tools that are available.

Be Blessed my friends.

#3682 I Can't Find My Downloaded Module

Posted by StandingFirm on 13 November 2011 - 11:58 AM

Thanks Josh.  That was a big help.  I had to look for the reference library.  I wasn't sure on some of the files if I had created or downloaded them, so I copied all the files over.  I will have to go through them and delete the ones that I don't want in the Topic Files.  I appreciate your help.
