Posted by turnsouth on 24 October 2012 - 04:52 PM

The NASB+ module, included with the NASB abd NASB Concordance from estudy source has, in addition to the embedded Strong's numbers R and N...

In all these years that I have had the NASB set I never noticed that. Thanks for the tip :)

#13371 Website link in Notes

I can duplicate the issue. This workaround should to prevent the problem:
  • Leave a trailing space after the link text,
  • Make sure that the spaces on either side of the link text are not selected when creating the link.
  • After creating the link click the cursor in the text that is not the link, and the grey highlighting should disappear.

#12458 A thought about e-Sword

I see something similar as an IT manager, it was all Unix years ago, but now we are 80% XP, and that is changing. Over the last few years there has been a evolution, first with the leased software as it has been updated to be more Win 7 native, and with the hardware as new machines are added and older ones are replaced.

It's amazing and disconcerting at the same time. Used to be setting up a work station was a headache and took a bit of time, as well as regular support (all adding to job security). But now with Server 2008, and Win 7 it's almost plug and play.

And like Vista to Win 7, if the industry does not adopt Win 8, I'm sure Microsoft will adapt quickly.

As far a e-Sword in particular, as long as major releases continue to cause area wide internet problems in Tennessee, I think that Rick will keep doing what he is doing.

I'm confused, I don't see any trend of users leaving Windows:

e-Sword - e-Sword is a free, fast, and effective program to study the Bible. e-Sword is feature rich and user friendly with more capabilities than you would expect in a free software package.

Tooltip - Tooltips are Bible verses and Strong’s numbers automatically recognized by e-Sword . When a mouse pointer hovers over the reference. a “tooltip” window appears, revealing the text of the scripture or the definition of the Strong’s number.

MySword - MySword is a free offline Bible study tool for Android. With MySword, you can study the Bible, compare different translations, look up Strong's Hebrew and Greek Lexicon, read popular commentaries and even write your own insights and study notes directly on your Android device.

I'm thinking that a list of e-Sword file extensions and their descriptions would be a good place to start. :)

#11591 e-Sword Wish List

I searched around and could not find a "What feature would you want in e-Sword?" thread, so I thought that I would start one:

I would really like a password feature for the Journal editor. Nothing drastic, maybe something with light encryption. Just to keep prying eyes out.

#11374 e-Sword on Startup

Posted by turnsouth on 02 August 2012 - 10:00 AM

On my laptop, a Win7 Home Edition, everytime I start up. e-Sword starts up with it. I do not want this to happen, because it slows down my start-up time.
I have checked most of the start-up issues with windows, but I have not been able ot figure it out.
Any ideas?

Check your startup folder (see above)

If it is not in there Msconfig can tell you if e-Sword is in your hidden list of startup programs. Click the Windows button, type "run" (without quotes) select "run" from the list, type "msconfig" (again without the quotes). This will open the Windows startup configuration utility, click the "startup" tab and you can see if e-Sword happens to be there.

...I'm sure many of the BibSuppers would like to know how to make that happen.

Easy enough to do. Click the windows button, select "All Programs", right click on and open the "Startup" folder, then add a shortcut to e-Sword.
