The Revival of Miraculous Powers in the Church
by Noel, Baptist Wriothesley
This is a one chapter work (35 pages) by Baptist Wriothesley Noel (Baptist) on the revival of the miraculous powers in the church (the Pentecostal latter day rain movement). His position is to refute that the miraculous powers were a common exercise of faith full individuals of any age, but rather were a special blessing exclusively to the early church. Noel does not refute that God does answer prayer miraculously at times though.
Posted ImagePublished in 1831 as a response to The Christian Dispensation Miraculous by Thomas Boys, this is a very able work with strong points on many fronts, not least of which is the candor and humility with which his opponent is generally treated.
