Can anyone tell me why I get the attached error message ever time I boot up e-sword. I have to reboot 3 times before the message goes away and I can use e-sword.

It works ok, and it certainly isn't a serious problem, but it is anoying. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago, and I don't know what went wrong.

Thanks for your help.

Next time you see that error message, close that screen, and then describe what happens.

and I don't know what went wrong.

That error message is usually thrown when there is either a corrupt DLL, or a corrupt resource.

Jonathon, if there is a corrupted DLL would a simple un-install and then a clean re-install solve the problem?

In theory, that should work. In practice, since the error message does not display which DLL, or resource triggered the error, the simplest, fastest way to correct the problem is to remove all resources, start e-Sword, and see if the error message appears.
  • If the error message does appear, then completely uninstall/remove e-Sword from the system. This includes all registry settings, and shadow folders. Once that is done, reboot Windows, and re-install e-Sword. [If you use a non-Windows system, just blow away the wine bottle.];
  • If there is no error message, add resources back in groups of 100,and restart e-Sword, until either the error message appears, or all resources have been added back;
  • When you get the error message, remove the last group of resources, and restart e-Sword:
  • If the error message re-appears, completely uninstall/remove e-Sword from the system. This includes all registry settings, and shadow folders. Once that is done, reboot Windows, and re-install e-Sword. [If you use a non-Windows system, just blow away the wine bottle.];
  • If the error message does not appear, add resources back individually, restart e-Sword, and see what happens. When the error message re-appears, the last resource to be added was the culprit. Remove it, and verify that e-Sword starts, and the error message does not re-appear;
