Thanks for your input. You've added some vital information that I didn't know about. I'm an XP user, and when its time to get a new Computer, I may still keep using XP. That said, I do notice there are some huge differences in permissions in Win Vista and 7.

So, again, thanks for your input to this topic.

Blessings,
Stephen (Php 1:21).

You're most welcome. I'm very happy to help in any way that I can. There are some pretty big changes past XP, and they took me quite some time to get used to.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Ever since downloading the newest upgrade from esword I've been getting this error message: "error encountered opening Bible file: C:\Program Files\e-Sword\kjv.bblx"

No one, including Rick Meyer's has been able to help me. I love esword and have used it for years but I am faced with having to ditch it because I can't get it fixed.

Any advice,

JT

I hope the following helps:

This could be a permissions problem that Windows is famous for. Try:

1 - Install e-Sword as the Administrator. You do this by right clicking the e-Sword install file and selecting "run as administrator".

2 - Right click the e-Sword folder - should be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

On many Windows machines. Click properties - click security - check your current user's permissions - click edit if you don't have full access - check all the boxes for access - click "OK" to save.

3 - Read only can also be a problem on the folder properties. Right click the e-Sword folder again - look at "General" - look at attributes - if it's marked as read only, unmark it and click OK.
