There seems to be an error with search that excludes local diacritic characters from mach function. Searching for mąż (husband - Polish) gives match to "M" only which is completely irrelevant to search intention.

To get to a resolution of your issue we need to know a few things

  1. What version of e-Sword are you using
  2. What operating system are you using
  3. What is/are the name/s of the resource/s
  4. Are these resources ones from the Downloads of e-Sword itself(official modules) In which case contact https://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html
  5. What search do you mean.
    1. Is it the one in the local topic, or
    2. the one that searches the whole resource.

Hi JPG, thanks for quick reply.

VErsion : e-Sword®
Version 13.0.0
Copyright © 2000-2021

fresh install, win10 pro.

bible : Polish UBG - all downloaded from available internal sources - no extra stuff installed

search term : "mąż" - results for "M"

best regards

I suggest you contact the developer to see if the resource needs to be updated. https://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html

In the mean time you can search using the setting "Search for the exact phrase", (even though this is to us a single word), and it should work

No, it is just that feedback form, which I understand leaves us in the dark as to if it has been read and what the reply is.

If the Polish UBG bible is downloaded, using e-Sword version 13.0.0, on Microsoft PC running Windows 11, and extended search is made for "mąż", for the option "Search for the exact phrase", then this works okay.

If you use the option "Search for all of the words", then the search will begin with m then with mą then with mąż
The display of search results is limited to the first 1000 verses.

It is likely that bajtec was not selecting "Search for the exact phrase" option, and thus obtained a listing starting with the first letter of the word. Please try again, and use the "Search for the exact phrase" option, as displayed below. If there is a problem with e-Sword, use option "Help" and "Reset e-Sword settings". You can also check that your device has been updated, to incorporate updates discovered by the manufacturer of your operating system; with the Start, Settings, Windows Update, option.

To receive an email report, to be sent to your registered email address, from biblesupport.com to inform you that there has been a further reply on a forum file, such as this one, browse up this web page, to the first page of entries, and right up at the top you will find the option "Follow this topic". Select that option, and select options, as instructed on screen.
You will then receive an email from biblesupport.com to inform you that there had been a reply to your entry in the forum on biblesupport.com.
