Hi there

I use e-Sword on a daily basis and just recently it has started taking an age [20 seconds] to open up. Normally it is much quicker. Any suggestions why this might happen?

A memory problem:
The reasons for the problem can be big a dictionary(Webster) or commentary that is loaded at the start, old prefeth data, less disk space,  temporary files, other program(s) are busy (open the task manger to test, Cntr+Alt+Del)

Use CCleaner:
https://www.ccleaner...ccleaner/builds
And do a Health Check and go to Custom Clean with Advanced "Old Prefetch data"

Thanks, I checked the Task Manager and didn't see anything out of the ordinary there. I am familiar with CCleaner but I use Privacy Eraser which does the same job. How do I uninstall a commentary, Bible etc to see if they are the culprit?

You don't need to uninstall a commentary but don't use a big commentary as active tab before you close e-Sword.

And you can always turn it off with Options/ Resource settings and dis-select it
