Good Morning to all the followers, I am using Manjaro on my Computer. To install E-Sword I loaded Wine and Play on Linux. On Opening E-Sword I discovered that the Fonds does not setup, the Dictionaries don't open and the programs do not Download. Hoping you can give me some advice. I am an old timer so please take it easy with me.

Kind Regards,

John

A Better option for running e-Sword on Linux is to use Crossover Linux by Codeweavers, this program makes running Windows software on Linux very simple and easy.

Here is the link:

Did you install all of the following, before installing e-Sword:

  • wsh56
  • mfc42
  • vcrun6
  • msls31
  • msxml3
  • vbrun6
  • wsh57

Do the folders that e-Sword is looking for resources in, contain the appropriate type of resource?

If all of those check out, then for the most ludicrous, utterly implausible, and off the wall suggestions:

  • Try a different desktop theme;
  • Try a different desktop environment;

I have absolutely no idea how or why that makes a difference:

  • One of the desktop environments I was trying out, didn't play nicely with e-Sword - I've since decided to stick with xcfe;
  • One of the xcfe themes doesn't play nicely with e-Sword --- I don't remember which one it is. I've since created my own set of xcfe themes;

I would add to that:

sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

That would deal with font issues.

You could also use a package manager, such as Synaptic.
