I have just installed e-Sword on my PC as well as the HD version on my iPad.  I have been downloading multiple Bibles, commentaries, etc, but am unable to find the following Bibles for the HD version:

  • Bishops' Bible (w/ Apocrypha)
  • Geneva Bible (w/ Apocrypha)
  • King James Bible (w/ Apocrypha)

On the PC, I was able to download these Bibles through the e-Sword download utility.  These Bibles aren't listed in the HD version.  I also attempted to convert these Bibles using the Apple Converter, but received the error "Unable to open locked module."  Does anyone know how I can go about getting these Bibles on my iPad?

Thank you!

One or more of those modules is a premium or pay module which is why you are getting the "Unable to open locked module" message. Premium modules are licensed for use on E-Sword and altering them is not allowed

Thank you for the response TJ.  I can understand why premium modules would be locked from altering, but these modules were downloaded for free on the desktop version but are not even listed in the Bible downloads on the HD or LT version.  I would think that any Bible that you can download for free on the PC would also be able to download for free on the iPad, but it isn't even listed as an option.  I would be happy to pay for these if needed on the iPad, but don't see a way to get it on there.  Do you have any ideas on that?

Thank you!

I was able to convert the KJVA.bblx resource file to a .bbli.  It is not a premium file.  It is not large and I can email it to myself as an attachment.  If anyone wants it, message me with your email and I will send  it your way.  (Hope that is not breaking any rules...)

I downloaded the Geneva bblx and Bishops bblx file from this website (Bible Support) and they load fine in my e-sword desktop.  However, when trying to convert them to .bbli, they appear to be locked as the original poster said.  Something else must be going on with those two since they are not premium modules for e-sword.

Jogirl, thanks for the information.  I didn't download the Bibles from this site, I downloaded them directly through e-Sword.  One thing I noticed is that you were able to convert KJVA.bblx, but the filename that I downloaded is kjv-1611.bblx.  I'm not certain how the one you downloaded is different from the one I have though.  I just realized that of all the Bibles I have downloaded through e-Sword, only 2 of them (kjv.bblx & kjv+.bblx) appear in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword.  None of the other Bibles appear when browsing to that folder although all of them do appear when attempting to open them in the Apple Converter.  I have also verified that they aren't hidden because they are hidden or protected files.  Not certain what is causing that.

adilger,

If you really want them and it sounds like you do, I think sending Rick an email through the Help/Contact selection within e-sword hd and asking why they won't convert is worth your effort.  It is a good question and you have done your due diligence trying to figure it out.  What would be the best solution, is as you have said, just to make them available as downloads thru e-sword hd.
