#26756 "Yahweh" or "The LORD"?

Posted by Katoog on 09 January 2016 - 11:14 AM

I'm not sure how to fix the open tags problem...I know just enough to put the modules together the way I have them now. When I put text in bold type it is like this:

John 1:23 He said, I am {\b the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,} as said Isaiah the prophet.

I'll try what you suggested with the Tooltip Tool. Thanks.

There are 2 problems with this format:

Only use { and } on the Beginning and End of a RTF document: It block other Bible modules if there is only a { in the verse.

There is no \b0  in the verse. (this is the problem for other Bible modules).

Better RTF formatting:

John 1:23 He said, I am \b the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,\b0  as said Isaiah the prophet.

With a double space after \b0  except with punctuation ( . ! ? ; : , )

#26467 newbie to E-sword

Posted by Katoog on 20 November 2015 - 01:27 PM

I repeat my answer on your PM

Fine thanks.

Did you downloaded the International Standard Version from the e-Sword program?

Select the module and then click on download and start?

And did he asked to restart e-Sword after the download? If not try again (by bad connection).

Normally is this Bible-translation called ISV and the footnoted version called ISV* on this website

Click on the "B icon" for a Bibles-only view. And click on the HOT+ module (maybe was the ISV hidden by the many tab names).

If you can't see the ISV then click on Options and Resources and Look to the Bibles list (maybe was the ISV turned off).

Or did you downloaded the module this website?

The default location for Bible modules is there:

C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

C:\Program Files\e-Sword

As TR-only translator am I not a fan of the International Standard Version but that is your choice.

I just had a look at the site and seen the screenshots, and I don't think I would want to use this program for two reasons

  1. Overcrowded interface. The fact that the views are just normal window and don't lock as in e-Sword makes the work space untidy, thus crowding out the other resources, slowing down access to them.
  2. Not a clean cut U.I. (User Interface). When there is overcrowding of components as seen in the screenshot below:

preview3.png

2. is not true, You can remove the My_Notes window by clicking on X and by double clicking on any Book, Dictionary or Commentary can you create a new second window

#26373 Thompson Chain not showing up in E-Sword after installation

Posted by Katoog on 06 November 2015 - 09:51 AM

Thompson Chain references is by the dictionaries under the name TCR.

Click on the D icon to see only the dictionaries.

If you not see it click on Options\resources and select all dictionaries.

If TCR isn't there then have you no installed it or did you use the e-sword 8 version instead for the 9/10 version or the MySword version?

uninstal Winrar and install 7-zip.

7-zip is always free.

http://www.7-zip.org/

The 32 version works also on 64 systems but the 64 version doesn't works on 32 systems.

Secondly you don't need a zip program to open and move a zip on the most OS's but you need it to create zips.

#26059 New World Translation

Posted by Katoog on 26 September 2015 - 12:11 PM

Not on this site.

1) Restricted Theology
Please do not upload material promoting, advocating, or proselytizing:

  • The Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Society, or other cults.
  • Islam
  • Other material that denies the deity of Jesus Christ. If you're unsure, you may upload anyway, but the material is subject to a review.

2) Module Unavailable:

Resource is Non-Distributable due to license

(It means that it is copyrighted by the JW)

If you make or find a REAL version then is it possible just as any other bblx file.

By the way there are several versions of NWT (1950,1961,1984 and 2013) but they are all guilty of doctrine paraphrasing.

#25594 Parellel Bibles Not Working for HOT and HOT+

Posted by Katoog on 21 July 2015 - 03:18 AM

I try the same as the screen shot but I didn't have this problem.

I think that another Bible module between HOT+ and the KJV is the reason for the for the trouble.

Move all the Bible modules between HOT+ and the KJV  to another map (you can't move or rename HOT,HOT+,KJV, KJV+)

C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword -> C:\test\

Or install the last version (Version 10.4.0)

#25372 Hebrews 4:8

Posted by Katoog on 17 June 2015 - 02:27 PM

Jesus and Joshua is the same name in Greek Ἰησοῦς G2424 and Latin Iesu / Iesus

see also in Act 7:45

The KJV is correct from this viewpoint while other Bible-translations are correct from harmonisation viewpoint in both Testaments

It is about Hoshea(Joshua) the son of Nun from the book with the same name the Old Testament. He was the successor of Moses.

#24741 Installing E-Sword HD modules for IPAD from PC

Posted by Katoog on 19 April 2015 - 05:28 AM

Hi,

I tried this but it said "Unable to open locked module"

????????????????????????????????

David

Your module is licensed; all the modules made by Rick Meyers who made e-Sword are protected and downloadable in the program. Try another module.

#24740 Installing E-Sword HD modules for IPAD from PC

Posted by Katoog on 19 April 2015 - 05:17 AM

With the latest update for iOS (8.3), it seems iFunBox no longer reads the contents of the e-Sword directory. Apple is probably adjusting the OS to prevent jailbreaking, which is basically what iFunBox does.

So, using iTunes, it is very easy to load files onto the iPad, to add modules, but with the recent lock-down of iOS, it is not possible to copy the files off the iPad, or back them up.

iFunBox does not jailbreaking which is illegal and if you want to be connected again then need you to uninstall iFunBox, Open iTunes on your PC and install the newest version of iFunBox while iTunes is still open.

#24448 DFV

Posted by Katoog on 29 March 2015 - 09:57 AM

Hello,

Of the english translations of the NT in existence, the most true to the original greek are KJV, Amplified, and the DFV. You recently forbid this translation due to the use of the word Godde as a gender inclusive reference to the creator.

No matter what Greek source you use; even the first verse of Matthew is already paraphrased in the DFV.

Mat 1:1  The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.(KJV)

Mat 1:1 The book of the ancestry (genealogy) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the son (descendant) of David, the son (descendant) of Abraham.(Amp)

Mat 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.(SLT)

Mat 1:1 This is the account of the lineage of Jesus the Anointed, descendant of David and Abraham:(TGNT)

Mat 1:1 Book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.(RHB 3.6)

Mat 1:1 This is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of Bathsheba and David, the son of Sarah and Abraham.(DFV)

While "genealogy" is a good word is it bad to add "Bathsheba" and "Sarah"  in the Text for doctrinal reasons and forget the first word βιβλος(book, scroll, account); the word "Bible" is based in this word.

Mat 3:9 ...We have Abraham for our father:(KJV)

Mat 3:9 ...We have Sarah and Abraham for our parents,(DFV)

πατερα (father) is a Singular Masculine Noun that never should be translated as parents or mother.

You should take an example to the SLT of Julia E. Smith based on the TR and the TGNT (The Gift New Testament) that is based on a similar source as the DFV(UBS4) used.

Both are translated by women and are better translations then the DFV

Can you copy e-sword to a CD from your hard-drive, and all your applicable programs, public domain to a CD to be used on a laptop that does not have the Inter-net and the only source for e-sword will be the CD?

#23538 What do abbreviations mean in "Greek Text w/ Variants"?

Posted by Katoog on 04 January 2015 - 01:59 AM

A=Alexandrian sources (Westcott-Hort, Tregelles, SBLGNT, Alford, Nestle-Aland,,..) are based of only 5% or less of the Greek manuscripts.

T=Textus Receptus 1550 from Stefanus source (most Textus Receptus based Bibles are between Textus Receptus 1550 and the Scrivener(1894) version)

B= Byzantine Majority 2000 & 2005 Maurice A. Robinson and William G. Pierpont sources

S=Scrivener(1894) the Textus Receptus that should be the source of the King James version.

TSB Based on T, S and B when some Alexandrian sources disagree with the other Greek sources. (A is then a minority reading)

TS  Based on T and S when the other sources disagree with the two Textus Receptus versions.

When GNT-V is active click then on Bible in the menu above and information.
