#34362 Question about "Morning and Evening"

Posted by EarlMelton on 06 September 2018 - 04:09 AM

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but it does concern resources.

I do not have Spurgeon’s printed book, Morning and Evening. The evening devotional for today, September 6, starts with “We who looks at his own character...” Shouldn’t that first word be He?

#32761 Downloading Christ in the Bible commentaries by A B Simpson

Posted by EarlMelton on 13 February 2018 - 08:37 AM

Bingo! I'm going to have to answer your query by saying, "Yes." This site and the files available on it are pretty much just for e-Sword, and the files on the site will need to be downloaded from within the program itself. We'll see what others say, though. :)

#32392 Incorrect Scripture rreference in Morning and Evening?

Posted by EarlMelton on 13 January 2018 - 06:22 AM

I'm reading through the Evening devotionals of Dr. Spurgeon this year and think I may have found a mistake in today's reading. Here is the first line: "The iron did swim." — 2Ki_6:9
That quote is not to be found in verse nine but is rather located up in verse six. Please correct me if I'm looking at this wrong.

#31657 Can't search BIble. Other three okay.

Posted by EarlMelton on 19 October 2017 - 11:54 AM

Today is the first time this has ever happened. I can search in the dictionary, commentary, or editor windows with no problem. I click on the binocular icon in the Bible window, and the search dialogue box never opens. Anybody got a suggestion?

#31280 Apologist's Bible Commentary Won't Work....

Posted by EarlMelton on 23 August 2017 - 09:40 AM

I have an Apologist's Bible Commentary (cmtx) that won't work. Am I missing something that I should be doing to get it to work? Can someone help?

If you told your mechanic that, "My car won't work," do you think he might request just a tad more information?

On which passage of Scripture are you trying to view Mr. Hommel's commentary? The 'About' file on this module indicates there are only notes on scattered verses in a total of only twelve books of the New Testament. The window will be blank on any other verse, including *all* books and *all* verses of the OT and on the vast majority of the NT. In other words, it "won't work" on any of the hundreds of other verses.

Hope this helps.

#30691 Bible Reading Plan

Posted by EarlMelton on 15 May 2017 - 09:36 AM

I have a PDF of two spreadsheets I created a couple of decades ago for reading the Bible through in a year, either sequentially or chronologically. I seriously doubt I'll ever learn to make module/s out of it/them, but would be glad to send it to anybody who wishes to do so or to anybody who just wants to print one out and use it that way. Let me know if you'd like it for any purpose.

Edited to add missing word.

#30630 Incorrect Scripture reference in Spurgeon devotitonal

Posted by EarlMelton on 08 May 2017 - 10:55 AM

The Morning and Evening devotional for this morning, May 8th, references John's epistle, 1John 5:13. It should be his Gospel, John 5:13. I have no idea how to correct this but would be willing to bet the rent that one of y'all do.
Thank God for e-Sword and this website!

#29738 My E-Sword is crashing shortly after opening the program.

Posted by EarlMelton on 30 December 2016 - 06:28 AM

I agree with both respondents above but would add to journey's reply. FIRST, back up any paid or premium modules to external media! Any time that weird, senseless things such as this start happening in or with a program, do not use only Windows' uninstall feature. Rather, download the free Revo Uninstaller program and run it to remove all traces of the program, even registry entries. Next, I personally do a restart of the PC before reinstalling the offending program. I don't know that this step is necessary, but I figure, "What the heck, it can't hurt!" :)  HTH!

#28795 Dangerous downloads?

Posted by EarlMelton on 03 September 2016 - 08:57 AM

I downloaded several A.W. Tozer files yesterday and some of them are being flagged as possibly malicious by Avast antivirus. It pops up a window I'm unable to close without force-killing the PC. I then wait about two minutes and restart. The last one I tried is entitled "Tozer, A.W. - Jesus Is Victor - An Exposition on Revelation.top.exe" Could that possibly contain a virus or malware?

I am strongly tempted to temporarily disable or delete Avast and go ahead with installing the Tozer files. Would this be a safe thing to do, or could they really be dangerous to install? I've never downloaded anything from BibleSupport yet that caused any problems and don't want to start now. :) TIA for any help!

#28759 Can't find/access download

Posted by EarlMelton on 29 August 2016 - 06:30 PM

Thanks, Josh and DSaw! It was there all the time...ALONG WITH FIVE OTHERS! I had DL'd and installed these over the years but had never used any of them.

I've mainly just used e-Sword for daily Bible reading, Bible study, and note-taking.

I now have Utmost checked to display at startup so that the old man won't forget. <grin>

#28693 Study Notes Question

Posted by EarlMelton on 24 August 2016 - 01:58 PM

Jmloy,

Navigate the Bible window to the book, chapter and verse on which you wish to make a note. Click in the editor window and make sure you're on the Study Notes tab. Type and save your note. Go to the next or previous chapter, then back to where you saved the note. On e-Sword v11.0.6, you'll now see a double underline under the verse number in the Bible window! I think it was indeed a wavy underline on earlier versions. I'm using Windoze 10, so perhaps that is why I see the double underline instead. Either way, whenever you see any verse number underlined in whatever manner, that's your clue that you have a note or notes on that verse. Click on that verse number and said note/s will appear in the note/editor window. You can edit or delete any portion of that or any other note at any time. Effectively, you're building and maintaining your own personal commentary on any verse. Cool, huh?

Okay, I just DL'd & installed another commentary, yet can't find it after restarting e-Sword. Help, please?
