#45544 What Modules do you want for e-Sword

Posted by APsit190 on 03 December 2023 - 10:31 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Well, I did a search for the "1973 NIV pdf" and came up zip, nuder, zilch. So it looks like there isn't anything like an 1973 ed of the NIV running in some electronic format .

#45136 How to Make e-Sword Modules - ToolTip NT User's Guide - .94 / Revision 2/...

Posted by APsit190 on 29 September 2023 - 03:47 PM in Tutorials

In my opinion, the most important thing that T4 can do is to create either .RTF or .HTML SQLite database modules from various forms of text, while conforming to the SQLite database structure required by e-Sword.

In my opinion, the second most important thing that T4 can do is read in an existing e-Sword SQLite database module in .RTF format (or .HTML format) and convert the information so it can be edited if desired and eventually output to a SQLite database e-Sword module in .HTML format (or .RTF format).

ElderB

Its not so much that T4 can "convert" an rtf to html, but rather it exports it. And that is where there is an actual massive difference between converting and exporting from one format to another lies.

For example, Rick Meyers' e-Sword  PC Module Converter tool actually converts an rtf file to html. With that said, there is a massive downside to this tool, which is that it strips font types, size, and styles. As where by exporting, T4 maintains (or keeps) font types, size, and styles.

Moreover, when creating, e.g., an refi file from scratch in T4, the type of font, e.g., Times Roman, size, e.g, 14pts, and styles, e.g., Headers, Subscripts, Superscripts, Foot or End Notes and etc, are all kept when exporting the project to an SQLite Database file for e-Sword.

Trust that you find this information helpful.

#45132 How to Make e-Sword Modules - ToolTip NT User's Guide - .94 / Revision 2/...

Posted by APsit190 on 29 September 2023 - 07:47 AM in Tutorials

You can access the Tooltip Users Guide after you download and install the program, once you have done this run the program and click Help on the menu across the top of Tooltip. This will open the Tooltip Help Menu the last item on the menu is labeled Tooltip NT 2.10 pdf click this and the manual will open in Adobe Acrobat reader.

You only need to install one version of Tooltip, the developer of the Tooltip program always had the most recent version and two prior versions available for download

Just to add to what Higgsy shared. ToolTip Tool NT (affectionately known as T4) is no longer being being updated due to the death of the Author a few years ago. So, the "latest" version is both the current and last version you will see.

The author of T4 used a relatively unknown programming language, which no one else knows how to use it, hence it is no longer being maintained.

No one has taken over the project to further develop and/or update

#46184 Perl scripts to convert e-Sword 9 bblx and cmtx modules to mysword

Posted by APsit190 on 19 April 2024 - 11:56 AM in MySword

You don't need the Perl scripts there is a conversion tool available called Simple Bible Reader, which can do the conversions. The program can convert between many different bible programs with ease.

You can download the program here:

https://trumpet-call...plebiblereader/

Hi Higgsy,

May I suggest that you do a screen recording (video) or a series of screenshots of doing a conversion using Simple Bible Reader, and post it (the screen recording) or them (the screenshots) up on here.

Blessings.

#45277 Installing E-Sword HD modules for IPAD from PC

Posted by APsit190 on 30 October 2023 - 05:24 AM in Tutorials

What if one does not have access to a windows computer. How can we convert the .exe file modules to run on iPhone, iPad, and MacBook?

You can't. With that said, however regarding your MacBook, you are able to run an exe natively on that device using Crossover.

Now regarding your iOS devices, there's no application available to make an exe file on them. However there are an abundant of third party, and official (both premium and free) resources available for these devices, which in reality you don't need it to run on these devices.

Trust you find this information helpful.

#45285 Installing E-Sword HD modules for IPAD from PC

Posted by APsit190 on 01 November 2023 - 03:26 AM in Tutorials

I have a iPad and wanted to install multiple modules at one time. How can I do that. I have over a 1000 modules. Having to install them one at a time is taking a very long time. Dr. Wade Bridges.

This one is relatively easy. If these resources are made for e-Sword HT, LT and X, and they're not in some form of an installer Application, but are the raw data files, e.g., bbli, cmti etc., then all you need to do is put them on a pen drive and copy them over onto your device, or send the resource files via WiFi from one device to the other.

#44444 Esword for Nook, Kindle or Android

Posted by APsit190 on 16 May 2023 - 03:01 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

e-Sword FOR ANDROID. Since this forum was begun in 2012, Rick Meyers, an independent developer has released e-Sword for Android in January 2022. These use Modules where the coding has been done in HTML format. Older modules where the coding was in RTF format, for e-Sword for the PC, with filename having the file type with the last of four letters as “x”, such as bibles (bblx), and commentaries (cmtx), do not work.

The files that work all have the filename having the file type with the last of four letters as “i”, such as bibles (bbli), commentaries (cmti). These new files are coded in HTML, and also work with e-Sword for the PC after e-Sword version 11, 12, or 13, and are also compatible with e-Sword for Apple devices such as the Apple Mac, Apple iPad and Apple iPhone. This e-Sword for Android has to be purchased, as it is provided from the Google Play store, as “e-Sword: Bible Study to Go”.

A list of the latest currently available versions of e-Sword is supplied by BibleSupport.com at http://www.biblesupp...ons-of-e-sword/

Access the website of Rick Meyers the developer at https://www.e-sword.net/ select the LINKS option, select the version of e-Sword, read the FAQ replies, and the FEATURES options. There is an android tutorial at https://www.e-sword....id/tutorial.htm From that website you will find the link to the required download module. Suggestions of how to provide more useful options can be made to the developers at https://www.e-sword.net/android/contact.htm

Hey Olaf,

I think that Fred would pretty much know that e-Sword for droid is available, and may have even downloaded it quite a while ago, as in when it was released.

I think you're a bit late in the game to let him know. Should've done it last year.

#44446 Esword for Nook, Kindle or Android

Posted by APsit190 on 16 May 2023 - 03:38 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Yes, APsit190, I agree with you totally, that you should have followed up your previous 2012 replies to this entry in the Bible Support forum, last year.

Not really, and the reason being that the response was correct for that time. And moreover, BibleSupport members have been informed and as such have been made well aware of the release e-Sword for Droid last year. Those who may not know are either dead or no longer active, or have given up on waiting and may possibly be using some other (PUKE) product.

Remember that when e-Sword HT and LT was released, there was a call for an Android edition to be made. And at that we were informed that wasn't going to happen. Then when it was released and advertised, it was a total (nice and fantastic) surprise to all of us.

#46053 Adding Bookmarks

Posted by APsit190 on 07 March 2024 - 02:10 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Is there a way to bookmark in the commentaries and other resources?

Commentaries and Dictionaries:

In short: No!

For a much longer and comprehensive answer: No!

Topic, Study, and Journal Notes:

Short answer: Yes!

For a much longer and comprehensive answer: Yes

I was thinking about doing a "How to" video on this topic, but Nah. Can't be bothered. There's a pretty decent help resource which comes with e-Sword in pdf format, "e-Sword User Guide." It just might help you.

Over and out!

#46107 Mysword in Windows!

#46106 Mysword in Windows!

Posted by APsit190 on 27 March 2024 - 06:20 AM in MySword

You can run MySword on Windows using a program called Blue Stacks which is an an Android Emulator

Hi Higgsy,

When using Samsung's Galaxy Android devices, whether it Galaxy phones or Galaxy tablets, Blue Stacks in not a requirement as these devices have (in partnership with Microsoft) apps that will connect them directly and link to Windows, and as such run these devices on Windows.

If you have a look in your Windows (10 and/or 11) Start Menu, you may see an app called "Phone Link." This app will connect your Samsung Galaxy phone to your Windows device. Check to see if you have that app installed. If memory serves me correctly, I think I did a video a few years ago, and plonked it up on here.

Another thing too; if you go to your Windows settings, you will see an icon of a mobile phone with the title, "Phone," and the sub-text, "Link your Android, iPhone." And from there you can turn on your Phone Link app.

As to Samsung's Galaxy tablets, they use a different app that will connect it to Windows. I haven't got a clue what that is called.

With that said, Blue Stacks will come in handy for non Samsung  Galaxy  devices.

Trust you find this information helpful.

#45776 I cannot get my downloaded Bible module to work in E-Sword 10.0.7

Posted by APsit190 on 09 January 2024 - 11:18 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Is there a module that i have to install in order to install resources when im at Bible Support?

You don't have to install and use the e-Sword module installer application, but I strongly recommend that you do use it if you are using a Windows PC.  This module enables you to double click on downloaded modules and they will get automatically installed into the correct folder typically. This module installer application is available here at:

http://www.biblesupp...dule-installer/

     ElderB

When it comes to "installing" (which is actually adding) e-Sword resource files from here, all what one just can do is simply download the file directly into the e-Sword folder.

With that said, however if the resource you want is in an executable installer app, then after it has been downloaded, then you will need to run the app, and from there install  the resource file into your e-Sword folder.

#45792 Transferring ESword to a new computer

Posted by APsit190 on 12 January 2024 - 06:18 PM in Tutorials

The one thing I don't have to worry about transferring e-Sword resources from an old PC to a new one is because all resources are on a separate drive. This means all I need to do is to remove the Data (D:) drive from the old PC into the new one, and then just change the default resource location in e-Sword to that drive.

Here is another way anyone can do this, and its pretty straight forward. Simply have a copy of all your resources on a USB pen drive (memory stick) and then you can bang it on whatever device you want. Alternatively, you just keep you e-Sword resources up on the Cloud, e.g., One Drive, and then just sync e-Sword to the cloud. Not a problem at all!

A Couple of helpful videos

#45171 Plans to make a module of NIV 1984 Bible?

Posted by APsit190 on 06 October 2023 - 04:41 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Digital copies of previous versions were systematically removed from internet access.

Olaf,

Nope, that's not true. That is false! The 1984 Edition of the NIV still can be bought from eStudySource. Click on the image below, and check the first line in the Premium section of the screenshot.

#45178 Plans to make a module of NIV 1984 Bible?

Posted by APsit190 on 06 October 2023 - 07:10 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Hello Stephen (also known as APsit190), Why did you only do half an investigation?
Please return to the e-Sword for Windows PC option "Download", in English, Premium section, click on the "NIV84" entry, on the Title, "1984 New International Version". You will NOT see an option to obtain a new link to download this. There is NO CONTENT LINK in the "Info" column.  What you will see, instead is the message in red, "If you previously purchased this module for any e-Sword app, then just enter your Email Address and Product Key you received to install it again.
Then Rick Meyers provides text boxes to contain the Email Address, Product Key, Validate, and also an option to Recover Product Key of a previously purchased copy during the years when this option was still being made available by the copyright holder. Since the provision of the 2011 edition, the copyright of the 1984 NIV is such than no new module copies are for sale using the previous copyright translation. The reason is that English has changed, and some of the previous contents in the NIV 1984 has been deleted. .

The Committee on Bible Translation is very explicity. As I copied from my previous reply:

For use of the NIV:
Zondervan is granting permission for the latest edition of the NIV text only (currently 2011.) We are not granting permission for use of the earlier editions or version of the NIV text.

So what! You can still get it; that's the point! Anyway, it doesn't matter because in reality one is still able to get one's dirty paws of a digital copy of the 1984 NIV albeit as a pdf document. Click here to see and/or download.

Official is official and most don't care because there's heaps of them on the internet if one wants one.
