#44748 Typo in Gen.1:11 KJV?

Posted by Katoog on 24 July 2023 - 11:35 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

biblegateway.com has 2 official editions of the KJV: (not counting the KJ21 and Webster).

1) KJV based on the the 1987 printing that is in verse per line format. (KJV)
But lacks italics. I think that it is an Oxford edition.

2) Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV) in paragraph format and poetic layout
by the Cambridge University Press.

Both editions using British spelling.
Some differences between both editions in biblegateway.com:

("him" and "Thou" are singular)
Mark 15:2 unto them, Thou (KJV)
Mark 15:2  unto him, Thou (AKJV)

Job 39:16 not her's (KJV)
Job 39:16 not hers (AKJV)

Jer 5:19 your's (KJV)
Jer 5:19 yours (AKJV)

Est 4:11 man or women (KJV)
Est 4:11 man or woman (AKJV)

1Ch 14:10 ? And wilt (KJV)
1Ch 14:10 ? and wilt (AKJV)

1Ki 15:2 Jerusalem. and (KJV)
1Ki 15:2 Jerusalem. And (AKJV)

Gen 16:6 thine hand (KJV)
Gen 16:6 thy hand (AKJV)

Jer 34:16 whom he had (KJV)
Jer 34:16 whom ye had (AKJV)

2Ch 33:19 sins (KJV)
2Ch 33:19 sin (AKJV)

Nah 3:16 fleeth (KJV)
Nah 3:16 flieth (AKJV)

#44729 Typo in Gen.1:11 KJV?

Posted by Katoog on 21 July 2023 - 10:50 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Not a typo but a correction done by the publisher of your KJV edition.

The KJV 1611 has "after his kinde" and the KJV 1769 has "after his kind" 12 times in 7 verses in Genesis

Gen_1:11; Gen_1:12; Gen_1:21; Gen_1:24; Gen_1:25; Gen_6:20; Gen_7:14.

One of the corrections in the Webster Bible was "after its kind"

The inaccuracies in grammar, such as which for who, his for its, shall for will, should for would, and others, are very numerous in the present version.

I use "Galatia SIL 2.1" for the Greek font.

https://software.sil.org/galatia/

Double click and install in Windows, then start e-Sword for Windows.

#44687 HD or iPad Modules to PC

Posted by Katoog on 11 July 2023 - 09:07 AM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

All the newer editions of e-Sword for PC supporting more the newer apple modules than the old format modules with a X.

So if you use e-Sword edition 11 until e-Sword 13 is there no reason to convert TOPI to TOPX.

#45125 How to submit a translation?

Posted by Katoog on 28 September 2023 - 12:47 AM in Just Saying Hi

The official modules of e-Sword are uploaded by Rick Meyers for direct download.

The user modules are uploaded here.

Modules are data files that are converted to work for a program (here e-Sword).

The Bible module format is bbli that is a kind of SQL file.

(bblx is an old format that only works on the PC version of e-Sword).

We use usual ToolTipToolNT to make modules that are based txt, html, rtf or PDF sources.

If you make an Indonesian bible module then need you a html or txt file saved as UTF-8 with the verse numbering.

And the Module Define Variables above the Bible text.

#define title=TITLE

#define abbreviation=ABBR

#define information=Enter Info Here

#define versionHD=4

#define ot=1

#define nt=1

#define apocrypha=0

#define strong=0

#define right2left=0

÷

If it is only the New Testament then change #define ot=1 to #define ot=0

The Bibles and other modules in the e-Sword menu are there uploaded by Rick Meyers who made e-Sword.

Here are "user modules" uploaded.

Some "user modules" became "official modules" if they are popular.

If you want that your module is uploaded then need you to contact Rick Meyers on his website with good arguments.

But it is Rick Meyers who decide to upload it.

#44980 bblx files

Posted by Katoog on 05 September 2023 - 03:29 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

You don't need to install bblx files in Win 10

All what you need to do is place it in the e-Sword folder.

The default folder for Win 10 (x64) is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

for Win 10 (32x)

C:\Program Files\e-Sword

#45116 Is there a Greek OT (LXX) in English Module for E-Sword?

Posted by Katoog on 27 September 2023 - 10:27 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Hi Everyone,

I am busy studying Romans and Paul quotes a lot from the LXX. The English translations of the Hebrew OT can be be quite different.

Is there at least one bible module that has the Greek OT (any version) in English so I can perform searches etc on it and also read to see that it is correct with the Romans English translation.

Much appreciated any feedback.

I have PDF English versions of the LXX.

While my translation use mostly the Hebrew OT are the quotes harmonized on the LXX translations and NT interpretations.

I marked word with red if they follow or render the NT interpretation and added cross references.

If you search with Regular Expressions (REXGEX) and type <red>

Can you see all the verses with the marked words.

For example "top of his staff" or "head of his bed" in Gen 47:31 that is quoted in Heb 11:21 are the same words in Hebrew but the vowel points change the interpretation.

"head" and "top" is the same word in Hebrew.

mittah=bed H4296

matteh=staff H4294

The only difference are the vowels in Hebrew that are added for the interpretation.

So I follow here the NT and LXX interpretation.

#46255 Bibles missing verses

Posted by Katoog on 13 May 2024 - 07:26 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

The reason why it is omitted is the age of Saul and the number of years that he rules OR the words were added after it.

This problem is very old because the verse was already omitted in some versions of the LXX.

So a problem of misunderstanding or text corruption. Some translations using other numbers or even use __ because they have no solution for the problem.

I found a solution for the age and years problem.

1Sa 13:1  Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel, (KJV)

1Sa 13:1  reigned one year: Heb. the son of one year in his reigning (KJV footnote)

The Hebrew idiom "son of a year" is not in English but means year of origin or first year.

1Sa 13:1  It was a year since Saul began to reign and he had reigned in the second year over Israel, (my translation: the RHB)

In the first year was Saul called a king but it takes a year before he was recognized as king over whole Israel.

#45327 Regular Expressions and Westcott Hort Greek NT

Posted by Katoog on 09 November 2023 - 12:23 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Why do you use TVM if you can use Robinson's Morphological Analysis Codes?

The only thing that you need to do is to type V-

in Regular expressions(REGEX) with a Greek Bible module that has the codes.

e-Sword using tags between Strong's and Morphology.

I used my Restored Textus Receptus or Greek NT WH+ and type:

G2296</num> <tvm>V-..N

with Regular Expressions(REGEX)

Mat 15:31 θαυμασαιG2296 V-AAN

Mat 27:14 θαυμαζεινG2296 V-PAN

Mar 15:5 θαυμαζεινG2296 V-PAN

2Th 1:10 θαυμασθηναιG2296 V-APN

In Gal 1:6 is θαυμαζωG2296 V-PAI-1S an Indicative.
