In Topic: Something to do in lockdown

05 September 2021 - 09:13 PM

Hopefully in New Zealand it will be announced today that apart form our biggest city, Auckland, we will be going down to a lower level and have a bit more freedom. But over this time I have made us of lockdown to create for my own use several bibles:

Expanded Bible

New Century Version

Common English Version

Common English Version

New American Bible Revised

And as I said previously, it has not just been a technical exercise in making Bible modules - each has contributed to my growing ongoing understanding of God and has helped me know Him better - not a bad thing at all.

Praise God He continues to speak to us through a multitude of different versions. His Spirit is able to bring enlightenment and illumination to the Word of God.

Blessings

I had to laugh too. But for all their "verbosity". it did make me study what I was 'translating' and so gained more in my understanding of who God is and what He has in store - so not all bad!!

Now I am going to start on the New Century Version. Got to occupy myself during lockdown here in New Zealand

Thanks Silverhair for that - certainly worth further study.

I checked on the some of those involved with translation and no indication of JW leanings

Does not look like JW influenced but I note your concern and will continue to check out Expanded Bible.

Information from Bible Gateway on Hiligaynon Bible

Version Information

This Biblica translation of the New Testament is for the Hiligaynon language, which is primarily used in Philippines. An estimated 7 million people speak Hiligaynon as their mother tongue. This translation uses an informal language style and applies a meaning-based translation philosophy. It was translated from the biblical languages and was completed in 1996.
