#47837 Recent problems with E-sword

Posted by Matthew Dunn on 16 February 2025 - 01:35 PM

Recently, I tried to upgrade to E-sword 14.1.0.  I have had the following problems:

(1) The "Downloads" tab is completely greyed out.  I cannot download any Bible, Commentaries, etc.

(2) I kept getting a message that E-sword needed to finish installing files.  I would click "OK" -- but, then I'd start getting error messages saying that the program couldn't write to the files.  Even though I kept pressing "Cancel," it cycled and cycled.  I eventually used Task Manager to end the process.

(3) I have uninstalled 14 and tried using both vers. 13 and 12.2.  I'm having the same problem from #1 above: The "Downloads" tab doesn't work.

Support suggested that I check my Proxy settings in Windows.  So, I went: SETTINGS > NETWORK & INTERNET > PROXY.  The settings are as they should be, namely, "Automatically detect settings" is turned on.

See screen pics below:

Is this an E-sword issue?  A Windows update issue?  Something else?

Can anyone help?

#47786 Possible to show parallel texts?

Posted by Matthew Dunn on 03 February 2025 - 08:36 AM

Let's say I want to compare texts, like in a synopsis?  Is that possible?  Or, if I wanted to just look at two or more different verses or texts at once (not necessarily the same or related): Could I do that?

Thanks for any help!

#25410 Error in Nova Vulgata/NVLA

Posted by Matthew Dunn on 21 June 2015 - 10:01 PM

The verse for 1 John 3:10 is given incorrectly in the Nova Vulgata module.  It reads:

10  omnis, qui non facit iustitiam, non est ex Deo, et qui non diligit fratrem suum.

However, it should read:

10 In hoc manifesti sunt filii Dei et filii Diaboli: omnis, qui non facit iustitiam, non est ex Deo, et qui non diligit fratrem suum.

The text can be confirmed at: http://www.vatican.v...ioannis_lt.html

As one can see, the first part has been excised for some reason.

Could someone, please, correct this?

#23537 What do abbreviations mean in "Greek Text w/ Variants"?

Posted by Matthew Dunn on 04 January 2015 - 01:33 AM

In the Greek New Testament (with variants) module it includes such abbreviations as: "A," "TSB," and "TS." (I've attached a screen shot.)

I can't, however, find anyplace where it explains what these abbreviations mean.  Could someone, please, explain them to me?

Thanks!
